Wonder if that was filmed on a Panasonic cell phone?
Nah. 20 years too soon. The guy likely had a video camera the size and weight of a carry-on Samsonite. And the fans around him up there in the balcony were mightily pissed off about it.

I'd forgotten about that weird "M" at midcourt. Whereas in every other arena it would be oriented toward one sides of the arena, in the '70s Barn it was oriented toward one end.

Minnesota is really not that good. They seem to do this every year where they come out of the gates really hot and then get blown out and fall back to earth.

The best cure for not practicing is to feed Kofi 15+ times and challenge Minny bigs to stop him.

Thanks Dan.

My Spectrum program guide is still showing Boxing at 6:00 and Providence at Marquette at 8:00 but I suspect they haven't yet corrected that listing since the change in the rescheduled time slot. Sorry I panicked the other day.
Are you able to access the Fox Sports app? That is how I watch all Fox and BTN games.

They only have one loss, and it was to a pretty solid MSU team that leads the early standings. The analytics puts them in the lower half of the conference, but it seems to me that a road game after a layoff and covid could mean anything.

Sure, but they haven't beaten anyone, either. And yes, I say that knowing that they played and beat Michigan.

Thanks. And yikes - that's 4pm PDT and I have little kids. I imagine that there will be DVR issues if none of the providers are recognizing the game. I will spend the next several hours scheming 1) how to convince my wife I'm working late, 2) convince my work I need to head home early and 3) find some WiFi to watch the game live.

Agree that Michigan win has and will continue to lose luster.

Of all the teams in the B10, Minnesota may have the least amount of answers for Kofi—they’re that small.

Obviously with a COVID layoff anything is possible, but this team performed through a flu that rocked them. I think they get it done.

I think if Little Richie was still around I'd agree with you. But I'm not as convinced now.

It is funny how their Michigan win looked like a big deal a month ago and now it's more like beating Mankato State.

It sure looks fun for the crowd and players. He did it to get the crowd to show up early for games and be energized by tip-off. Not sure it is worth the distraction to have the players train for it, but the concept of a pre-game attraction that draws the crowd in early and energizes them is a good one.

Musselman, like Knight, had plenty of good and bad. He was sometimes called the most intense man on the planet, and his locker room posters (e.g., "Defeat is worse than death because you have to live with defeat.") back that up. He was also the Gophers coach at the time of the in-game brawl/assault in 1971 that left an Ohio State player in the hospital.
Yep. The 50th anniversary of that attack in The Barn is coming up on Jan. 25. Musselman took no responsibility for it. BTW, the BT coaches had gotten together a couple years earlier and agreed not to recruit Ron Behagen because his behavioral problems were severe. Musselman arrived at Minnesota in 1970 and gave him a spot on the team.

Another classic! I believe that shot is what started Lou's steak of NCAA appearances. It had been a really long drought. Difficult to tell who was on the court with Harper in that clip. Perhaps Welch, Douglas, Winters, and either Bontemps or Altenberger.

If you recall, we then lost to Utah (starring Pace Manion, Nico's dad) out west in Boise in a 10:30pm game (central time) in the first round. Hugely disappointing -- but we rebounded in 1984 going to the Elite 8!!!!

I'm surprised that Michigan is still as highly-rated in Ken Pom (#21) as it is.

I actually think this will be like the Michigan game last year when Ayo was out. We expect it to be ugly, then we come out and blow them away.
As the Bard said, "Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished."

Saw this elsewhere (putting it as vaguely as possible). Minnesota's reaction to the postponement.

Oh, and here's my contribution to the thread concerning bad losses. Jan 2014 Welsh Ryan arena NW 49 Illini 43. Not as bad as some of the others posts but it was particularly bad because I was there. My friends and I just shook are heads wondering if we actually saw a basketball game or what?
Anyone notice that the Gopher board is essentially identical in format to IL?

Hoping for a blow out.

Does anyone know why we haven't seen more RJ? He seems to be an incredible spark when hes out there, and its puzzling why he isn't getting more playing time. I could be missing something (defense?)

For those not seeing the game on your local listing, some providers are slow (or never) to update when there's a change to the schedule.

The Illinois @ Minnesota game is listed on the official FS1 broadcast schedule-
