- The asks from his camp really frustrated BU & staff.
- The sharks are going to start circling for Boswell. The good news is that we’re going to be one of them …🦈 NIL will play a big role.
- Ames > Fears in the staffs mind. TA putting in work for him. If we wind up with Boswell, or Ames I don’t think anyone can complain. You just can’t afford to miss on both.
You're definitely plugged in, Indy. NIL is not publicly available info for us, but if I'm reading your post correctly, UI is developing a rep for a good destination to make some NIL cash. That's a good thing.

Will other coaches accede to the asks from his camp? I can't see Izzo making any kind of guarantees.

I feel as though this whole situation is being read incorrectly. It doesn't matter if Fears is a top 30 player for one reason. He is not left-handed. Brad obviously feels someone like Dai Dai can bring a lot more to the table solely due to his left-handedness.
Very perceptive!

-Fears camp has some Adam Miller-like ”asks” for his Freshman year. This went a long way in pushing the staff away. They don’t like his fit on the roster moving forward. Not sure I totally agree-can never have enough capable guards, regardless of shooting shortcomings. But we don’t need a kid jumping ship if he is not going to be playing as much as desired Freshman year (starter type minutes).
-We are going to have to beat out the Big Dogs for Boswell. I am not very optimistic, but as of today we couldn’t be in a better position.
-The staff likes Ames a lot. I could certainly see him being ranked higher than Fears in the next refresh.
A lot of issues with Dad. I am privy to some info that I cant discuss on here.

Then they run the risk of putting in time and effort just to see a player enter the transfer portal.

Transfers are out of control in the last few years.
I don't think it's fair to say they're out of control when what's really happening is players taking some of their autonomy back. It just means that players and coaches have to be on the same page prior to a commitment. That's probably better for both parties in the long run.

Found one line interesting from ESPN article about his commitment, "he is capable, but not polished from behind the arc." Someone is following the loyalty board for insider info, well done Jeff Borzello and Paul Biancardi

Also heard this staff is done recruiting kids with family drama after the AM issues. Said it isn't worth it.
Wonder if this will have any sort of trickle down affect on the 2 younger Fears brothers that the Illini have interest in?

Just got me thinking after reading this thread, knowing they're 2 younger brothers with good talent. I would have to think so, but either way we'll be fine. BU has us heading in the right direction and I trust where the ship is going. Besides, just the state of Illinois alone has good talent in the lower high school levels. Lots of top tier talent to recruit.
