i’m still upset for NW there, that was as atrocious as i’ve seen back to back calls in a long time. inexcusable. how does this stuff happen? the ref knows that realistically calling a foul there is MSUs best (and potentially only, especially given that nothing was happening on that inbounds play) chance of tying it up… and blows the whistle on an AT BEST 50:50 call. telling.

The worst thing about being at the top of the standings, is that I don't care about the other B1G games as much. But, I'll survive.

Marquette over #20 Seton Hall, Kansas State over #19 Texas Tech, and NW over MSU? What a great morning of basketball for the beloved!
HAVE to figure we at least pass the following teams in the polls:
#20 Seton Hall (AND it makes our Marquette loss look less bad!)
#22 Tennessee (currently losing by 22 at Kentucky) in the polls
#23 Providence (hasn't played all week, while we won twice)
#24 Alabama (definitely if they lose again to MSST, where they are underdogs)

None of this is to even mention that we are now alone in first place with #7 Purdue (who will likely pass #5 USC and maybe #3 UCLA) coming to town! Hope the SFC is as loud as it's ever been.

I've actually had kind of an opposite reaction, haha. I used to passively cheer for the "good" teams to win vs. the "bad" teams so that we could hopefully score an upset for our resume and squeak into the Tournament ... SO glad those days are over! Now, I am actively rooting for NU to upset #10 MSU in East Lansing, not caring whatsoever about "how many Big Ten teams are ranked??" or "will this make a potential win vs. MSU less impressive?" ... I ONLY care about remaining in the driver's seat for our 18th Big Ten Championship. And the Kitties helped us big time today. :)

For sure, I was watching the MSU game with interest.

My point is that i don't care about the MD vs. Rutgers game very much.

Somewhat OT RE: cheering for a conference title, I remember reading an article that when OSU played at Northwestern in 2006, while a game ahead of Illinois in the standings, there was a sizable contingent of orange at Welsh-Ryan Arena cheering for Northwestern. :ROFLMAO: We are well on our way, but I would love to get that reputation back as the best fans in the Big Ten, completely taking over visiting arenas. I was at the Iowa game in 2005 in Iowa City, where 5,000 Illini fans and the Orange Krush embarrassed the Hawkeyes, and it was a thing of beauty. I would love to see a huge contingent of Illini fans in Bloomington on Saturday 2/5!

NW wins!!!!!
Goes to show that any game is a potential loss. You can't just look at our remaining schedule and pencil in wins against teams X, Y, or Z.

MSU is obviously a better team, yet they lost at home to NW who was w/o one of their best players. And add in very lopsided officiating in MSU's favor.

No such thing as a gimmie in Conference games.

Strange swing for TTU to beat Baylor this week and then lose to Kansas State later in that same week. It was their 3rd game this week though. Thats kind of wild. I wonder how the voters will react to that.

BIG 10 officiating has to be the worst in the country. That last foul call on NW was especially egregious. Glad the Kitties won.

Really? I thought that one was OK. The NW defender pretty clearly held down the MSU big's arm on the inbounds. But, agree that it shouldn't have been there in the first place, very quick whistle on the (maybe not even a) travel and (definitely not a) jump ball.
