He still forced some horrible shots.
Schitts Creek Comedy GIF by CBC

...but with 20 pts, 6 rebs, 3 asts and 0 tos, I will let that slide. He'd likely have more assists if Payne didn't have hands like frying pans.

I've never posted here, but read all the comments. Has anybody noticed we seem to lose every time Curbelo plays? If you exclude the beginning of season cupcakes, I think he's 1-4 this year. He may have great ability, but he makes a lot of unnecessary fancy passes and the team seems confused and tentative when he's out there. He also turns it over a lot with stupid plays and bad shots. He has no business shooting outside of 7 feet with the shooters he has around him. He's clearly trying to feed it inside, but our perimeter game shuts down. Trent, especially, shuts down when he's out there and, in my opinion, any hope of a title of any sort start and end with Trent Frazier.

Really?

Bello has been concussed, sick, and who knows what else? The kid plays hard, has oodles of talent, and seems to be a great teammate. Let's quit running down these young men and root for them with all our energy instead!! They're gonna need it in this stretch of games coming up. ILL!!

We need Belo even if all he does is give Trent 6-10 minutes of rest. Trent played a hard 40 against NW. Trent plays balls out every tick. Even he needs a breather sometimes. We have two PGs on this team. Trent and Belo. That’s it. We will need both if we expect to do anything in March-April. And Belo is much better than what we have seen so far this year. Remember last year?

I think that Belo can be enormously helpful. But, everyone is coming down on a 1st time poster because he criticized Belo. Quite a few on here have been highly critical of Kofi, Trent, DMW, and Hawk. That request needs to be made to all of the criticisms on here. And, the poster simply made a few observations that were kind of accurate.

You will learn very quickly that you are not allowed to voice any criticism of AC around here no matter how measured or respectful. Best of luck to you.

There’s plenty to criticize Curbelo for. He’s far from a perfect player. But saying that we’re a worse team with him playing or that we lose every game he plays in is just silly.

Like others have said, he was probably our best player in the Purdue game (which is the only game he’s played in this year at full strength).

And last year, he was one of our best players and we won plenty of games with him in the lineup.

I'm 99% sure I've watched wisc mutilple times this year almost throw a game away they led by 15+. MD, NEB, and Houston stand out to me. Minny tied it pretty late. I believe all of those games came away from Kohl and I think the advantage the badgers get at home is well documented.

I see the line opens ill -6.5. I'd bet it closes closer to 4 but I also still don't see the overall appeal of wisc. At home I like us winning.
Yeh, I think this is a new Wisconsin. The days of grinding it out and then scoring on almost every possession are over.

I agree but there are a lot of silly takes on here but none seem to evoke the freak-out that comes with AC.

I understand your frustration D43, but just look for Curbelo highlights and you will change your tune.
Nah, that's not going to happen. There's a group of fans out there who made up their minds early on that they didn't like the cut of Curbelo's jib, and they're never going to do anything other than bleat about him having too much mustard in his game. I try to use the ignore button as much as I can with those folks because if I wanted to hear that nonsense I'd just call my dad.

I thought I'd cut him (or her) some slack since it was his (or her) first post.

Also, isn't there some story about one of the games back in the 80s where there was a massive snowstorm in Champaign and the refs for the game couldn't make it so they just brought 3 fans in attendance who happened to have officiating experience on the court to officiate?
Yup, vs. Kentucky. We only used two zebras in those days, though, not three.

Well, first post or not…..there are quite a few who jump on to similar bandwagons and ridiculous takes.
Seems to me that we’ve been introduced to a few ‘dull tools from the tool shed’ lately.
That is neither directed at anyone, nor am I calling out anyone.
However, sometimes it’s ok to sit quietly, observe, and learn a bit before speaking (posting) publicly.
Side note, to those that may be offended, yes - this is likely directed your way.

I think Curbelo's value becomes enormous once you start to look outside of the Big Ten and into tourney play.

I do agree he's probably not a necessary piece to win the B10 title but once you play teams that really pressure the ball or play a zone, you need someone like Curbelo to break it down.
I doubt very much we win the B10 title w/o Belo. If we do so, BU deserves coach of the century.

Teams scout, and any team that scouts us knows w/o Belo, we only have one really competent ball-handler.

Think everyone would have to acknowledge that Belo has not been 100% and has not contributed much to the success of the team this year in those few instances when he has been available. He hasn't been one of the best players on the team yet this year, but he is one of the best if not the best player on the team when he is healthy and contributing. Just think this is what DB43 was getting at. Belo can be both the best guy on the team and a liability if he isn't on his game due to his injuries and sickness. Let's hope the concussion, covid and all that are behind him, and that the team can start figuring out how to integrate him into what has been a pretty successful lineup and playing style so far. I want to see Curbelo drive to the paint, dish to Kofi, and then Kofi hit a wide open Plummer, Frazier or Grandison for the 3.

I note that most on here have tossed Hutch into the abyss because of his injuries have prevented him from playing, even though by some reports his is one of the better players on the team. Don't see the hated being rained down on those people.

This is just driving me nuts. I'm gonna try to break this down step by step. Belo got a concussion in the first preseason game. He suffered from the concussion and then post-concussion syndrome. Yes, he tried to play through his issues after missing two games. Unfortunately, and quite obviously, he was still very hurt and unable to play like his usual self. During the games in question (Marquette, Cincy, and K-State), his erratic play was due to his injury. He was suffering so much during those games that he had trainers checking on his head while he was on the bench. He also literally had to have a towel over his head to block out light.

Following those games, he was deemed too injured to participate in any team activities. Not only did he miss two months of games, but he also missed two months of practice. The fact that he didn't play for two months following those early-season games shows just how injured Belo was. I mean, we know for a fact that he had to see a specialist about it.

Once he finally cleared concussion protocol he practiced for two days before he played in the Purdue game. In that game against a top 4 team, he shot 53.3% from the field, scored 20 points, 6 rebs, 3 assists, with no turnovers.

Then, unfortunately, he gets sick. He tries to play through it against Maryland, but isn't able to. He only plays 14 minutes and struggles. He then is forced to miss the following two games due to that sickness.

Thus far this season Belo has had 1 game where he was healthy. In that game, he puts up a hell of a performance that directly contradicts everything in D43's post. Do you know what else directly contradicts everything in that post? Quite literally everything we saw from Belo in the second half of last season. Trying to extrapolate anything from the games where Belo was injured/sick is extremely foolish, it does a disservice to the player, and is an extremely bad look for the community at large. Be better.

Despite some posters misinformed posts, "Curbelo is back" is the very last thing the Wisconsin Badgers wanted to hear. Not to mention every other team in The B1G.

I totally understand why they are playing the game. Its hard to reschedule a game in a season where they are rescheduling a lot of games already. But, I do think they should offer refunds to people with tickets who don't want to, or more likely are unable to come. If not they are encouraging people to drive in dangerous conditions to get to the game which seems like a bad idea. If it is the literal blizzard that they are forecasting how does it make sense to have this game when we have had so many Big 10 games rescheduled in the name of "safety".

That being said...let's hope they win this one!
