^ It’s been published that group(s) of Illinois boosters are being formed to do exactly that.

No expert, but looking at the landscape of how boosters promote programs, it only takes a couple deep pockets to have a lot of influence. If they wanted an athlete to come here, they could provide contracts through a business, I expect quite easily. I'm sure crowd-sourcing small amounts through jerseys adds up, but I doubt it's anywhere near the level that passionate wealthy boosters can have.

The good news is that winning generates more interest and passion, and BU and the guys are doing that, even without a 5 star pedigree.

Morez 2023 is very very possible. More likely than not at this point.
Excited about hopefully getting Morez (2023 or later), but that is still a lot of time between now and then. Unless he has signed with us already, I will always keep my cup on until proven I don’t need it. I like to be wrong here, but always going to be hesitant to get my hopes up too much. ;)

How did this become so much more common? I had always (perhaps mis-)understood that it only happened with Canadian recruits because it was so difficult to do so in the U.S. Did some rule change?

Can't speak to the athletic angle specifically, but as a high school counselor I've seen a huge uptick in students who opt to graduate early (either end of junior year or December of their senior year). I think more schools are making it possible to get graduation requirements in earlier and more students are opting to move to college/the workforce sooner than they have in the past.

If Self had stayed we would be looking at multiple Final Fours with several championships.
Or he would have had the Illini on probation. Self wasn't going to stay here because he knew that he couldn't run his program the way it needed to be run to be successful. Players would have had to go to class and Guenther wouldn't have allowed him to have a bag man.

Missing on Boswell is not going to matter in the long run
With Epps next year and Belo for 2 more years he doesn’t seem necessary although a nice piece. Think a team of Belo, Podz, RJ, Hawk, and Dain could be pretty competitive. Luke, Ben, Omar, Sencire, and Ty off the bench gives a lot of depth although not close to the experience of this year’s team but longer and very athletic.

?.. Since Self left here, Kentucky has 4 final fours and 1 title. Duke has 3 final fours and 2 titles.
So better than he has done at Kansas?
It’s entirely possible

2005 with Charlie V wins that title. Probably goes undefeated on the season.

Imagine the guys we did get and then add Sheron Collins, Julian Wright, and Brandon Rush. You know the core of the Kansas title.

At that point he’s probably won a title and made a couple more really deep runs. We are established and landing a ton more of the area talent.

Boy Luther would have had a huge bill
