Has it been confirmed that Max Christie is in the transfer portal or was it a fake account ??

So let me get this straight. Adam Miller transfers because his mom wants him to play PG and Curbelo took that spot. A year later Curbelo leaves and Adam comes back to get the PG spot he left over?

If so, oh what a strange world we live in

That was a fake account.
OK , thanks...................

You know , this board is such a privilege to belong to.........You get a big dose of fellowship about a sports program that you love and follow intently .......You have a multitude of posters with good intentions , such as the poster above who answered my question post haste and with all the rumors and innuendoes we are always entertained .....You can pick and choose who to read and who not to...........I wish i had had a similar option when I was married , but no such luck .....Now my luck is all good and i really enjoy spending my day with you all here , and of course my sexy little NL # 3.......I really really do.....

I hate to think they we have run off Curbelo. High expectations didn't pan out this year, but look what the kid went through, any chance he felt that pressure? I believe so. We're the feelings of frustration valid, sure, but all that frustration became toxic from our own fanbase. Same could be said to a lesser degree for Hawkins.

The whole basketball world can see the talent Belo has and I know that plays a factor in the corresponding frustration levels. If he does transfer I don't think it's a great look for illini nation, as I think it will be easy to see blame placed on the toxic minority of illini nation.
Curbelo is an unusual talent, but nothing looks worse than a flashy, attention-seeking play that doesn't pan out. I don't think his style is a good fit for an Underwood team. I have absolutely no insider knowledge, but when the coach benches a player with Curbelo's talent in the second half of a still winnable NCAAT game, it points to real problems behind the scenes.

I think Curbelo could be a star on a team with a flashy coach who puts him on a long leash. That doesn't sound like Underwood.

I don't think Curbelo was run off (if he leaves). There are a thousand reasons to leave a program. A lot can change in one year. I doubt many people look down on the program when a player leaves. Almost every program have players leaving, especially now.

I should know so sorry for asking, but does Miller sit a year, or is that waived if the coach leaves?

Can’t remember if that’s only for players that commit and then decommit (before ever playing) based on the coach leaving. Thanks!

If Curbelo leaves, that gives me more faith that Kofi is back. Brad could only build his offense around one of them, and he chose the rock solid dependable one. If Kofi were leaving, i would expect a less half-court focused team with more transition and less lane traffic - a much better fit for Dre's game. Watching Miami's tourney games where they have thrived with undersized guards, i can see why he might be interested.
I will not blame Brad one bit on this one. Curbelo had the longest leash i've ever seen. People were complaining last year about Curbelo being wild in the Duke game and i commented that we were good enough that Brad could let him work out the kinks in a game at Duke. I know it was post-concussion, but Curbelo was given chance after chance in the Marquette game to the point that even before the game ended i had chalked it up as a sacrifice Underwood was making for Andre's development. There is so much that we don't see, but what i have seen has been nothing but support from the staff - within the context of a style built around Kofi.

I have a hard time seeing Curbelo leaving he tweeted he would be back and as involved as he’s is on the bench and with BU. I don’t see it. I could be wrong. I think the kid will be great next year.
I didn’t see my wife leaving. She said til death do us part

i though we got a clear no on Miller being our mystery transfer.

I’d happily take him back if he is… I just want somebody to answer before my AOL minutes run out.

I thought the transfer out was a front court player?

That's what I saw last night too. Don't know if that nugget got deleted, or if I'm misremembering what I saw (or thought I saw). The following criteria:

1. Frontcourt player
2. Not Kofi
3. Someone notable

...that points to one guy, for me, and my kids (and me, to an extent lol) will be devastated if it is true.

That was just a guess from one poster based on their *other* guess that the transfer in is from Ball State. At least, that's how I interpreted it. My guess is my guess, and it's just a guess. But I'll call it definitive until an insider tells me, "nope". 🙃

Once again, what separated us from being a mid BIG team this year at best is Kofi. Just look at our success without him, or lack of it.

Anybody who thinks they were going to be the focus was wrong. There was still plenty of shots to go around. Just look at Plumner's success. Difference was he consistently made the shots. Look how many shots Damonte and others turned down.

Andre also had plenty of his shots rejected, possibly better scouting. His outside shot was not reliable. If anything Kofi helped him tremendously on the floor.

I anticipate us adding three guards and a forward from now until the start of the season. Imo 4-5 more additions still on the way regardless of Kofi's decision
Is that including Epps, Harris, and Rodgers or are you speaking strictly about transfer portal additions?

EDIT: @djkirkpatrick22 beat me to it
