I took like 24 hours off from the board and there are 21 new pages on recruiting? In March? Can someone recap, please?

Nothing comes fast, especially success unless you’re THAT gifted. Sometimes, players and people don’t see that. All is well with the Illini.
They all think they are NBA bound. It's not that easy. Hawk reminds me a bit of Cook but a bit shorter and needs to improve his shooting. Hope he stays if not thank you for the past two seasons .

I don't know if I'd put it that way. Maybe "Have a chance" at the NBA. It's a dream, right? And if you've been told you have the talent and potential to get there? Why wouldn't you look at the possibilities or place where you feel you'd develop the best?

He's going to need to add strength based on the video but his ball handling and quickness means he'll be able to get to the hoop in ways the 21-22 version was lacking. His BasketballReference defensive metrics are alarming but there is some team defensive noise there. Tough to discern how to distribute the blame.
Reeves will be a lower priority but we could certainly do a lot worse than Reeves. His length, floor spacing and shooting are enough. Brad can engage almost anyone on the defensive end. Shannon will be the priority for now.

You know I watched the Illini warm up in Pittsburg just before playing Houston. Andre hit 9 straight 3’s and I would say he was hitting at about an 80% clip. I think he can shoot he just needs to do it game situations. I hope he does not leave because he is one of the most exciting players to watch I have ever seen. He had a rough year, he could easily be Deron or Trent legion material at Illinois with 2 years of eligibility left.
3 years of eligibility left........

I really think Lieb could contribute in 1-2 years. He most definitely would have redshirted last year if it wasn't a free COVID year so we really need to look at him like this was his freshman year as a little known 2 star. I don't expect him to ever be a star, but I think he could come in and change up some things since he can shoot. I hope he sticks around. He seems to me that he's a guy that is a team player and will do anything for the TEAM to succeed. You need a couple of those guys on your team. Can't have 13 super stars.
To be fair Lieb is likely taking advantage of the S&C program and ability to compete against upper tier Talent and will probably move onto another school to compete for a spot. Its not uncommon among other large D1 programs in P5 schools

He does remind me of Cook too, but Cook’s offensive game was MUCH better at this point in his career - Hawk is more athletic but Cook could shoot the ball.

I like Coleman but Cook was a much better HS player. He was a scoring machine in HS and from day one at Illinois. Great post moves and outside shot. Coleman runs better and may end up better but there is no comparison between freshman/sophomore Brian Cook and freshman sophomore Coleman Hawkins.

Cook
freshman 9 ppg 57% 5 rbg BT rookie of year
soph 11 ppg 60% 6 rpg
jr 14 ppg
sr 20 ppg BT player of year
