Ok so if Podz is staying and Shannon, Clark & Williams are coming then we're at 15. Payne? BBV? Lieb?

I could have sworn I saw that Lieb entered the portal, but if people here haven't seen it, I must have imagined it.
BBV has seen minutes and been in the system forever so there's some value there, Lieb is a 7-footer and we need someone to run the scout team. I've gotta imagine that Payne is looking for more minutes

Having a 6’5” lockdown defender that can handle the ball and distribute as a frosh sounds great to me. He only shot 52 threes all year so that % isn’t locked in stone. Having the height to see over defenders and get the ball to Kofi and/or drive to the basket seems a lot more important. Stats say you want to take three pointers or get layups. Seems like most defensive experts have read the same stats and are stacking their defenses to prevent either. You just don’t see uncontested layups in the tournament and the size is important. If Williams can shoot from 15’ he will score (Don’t know that he can) but would be more important attribute to me. Love to see a 6’5” PG with 6’7” wings and 6’10”-7’ frontcourt.
If Podz’s ball handling skills were sufficient to play the point then he would be a strong option as he has the size and strength plus he can shoot (although not proven at this level). Assume he didn’t last year or we would have seen him at the point rather than Hawk and DMW when we had the injuries. Do believe he has the will to work and develop those skills so sure would hate to lose him.

I'm guessing Payne and Lieb, with Belo that frees up 3 spots. BBV would be a hell of a get for any low level mid-major and is a solid backup for us if he wants to stay.

There was a tweet from an account with 30 or so followers claiming it’s between South Dakota and Loras College.

I loved what BBV did for us this past year in limited minutes. It's great to have a guy that can backup your Center and take pride in defending the post. BBV really seemed to relish that role. No he's not going to score a lot, but there's really no drop off in defense when he went in for Kofi.

I for one like the sound of this. I know this past season’s squad was senior heavy, so Brad went with experience to eat up minutes. But I feel like talent depth past season could’ve allowed for more full court pressing during scoring droughts to mix up tempo and try to get a cheap bucket off a TO to spark offense.
With our 2021-22 freshman hopefully all returning, and with a couple portal arrivals, I certainly hope BU will "adjust" his defensive scheme to reality. BU is the best man-to-man defensive coach in the country. This is not the Bobby Knight era, however. There will be games and moments in games where your man is continually beating you and anyone else that happens to be on the floor, especially against the top teams in the country. If a double team only opens up the floor for more scoring, then you have to have a relief valve called a zone for those situations. It can be a game changer. And to your point, a press can really change a game when employed at the right time. BU actually did use a press late in the season sparingly in some games, but more out of desperation.

May be hard to guess on this one, but over/under on days before we see a new commit, be it a transfer or HS recruit? I'll put the number at 13.5.

Is Payne waiting to see what Kofi does? I'd assume if Payne announces he's transferring then the likelihood of Kofi returning increases.

That is my logic for the day. Enjoy.

we should hear very soon
Keegan Murray of Iowa yesterday declared for the nba draft. Ofc, he is set to be a lottery pick. Kofi is not listed by most on the top 60 mock drafts. Reports indicate he would benefit from the G-League; however, those same reports are quick to state that he will make more NIL money by remaining in college than in the G-League, which I found surprising. If he were to stay, Illinois is likely not going to use him very much differently than they used him last year. I would hope they would really try, but there isn't enough time. Kofi will, therefore, probably have to experience the G-League if he wants an nba career at some point, sooner or later. Or he could just go overseas. Thus, purely from an overall financial long-term standpoint, I don't expect him back for his senior year.

not to be rude, but we'd want Williams why? 23% from 3, 63% FT

Have to imagine he'd be after Shannon and Miller in the pecking order. Im guessing Murray is headed to Georgetown, but he'd surely be higher on the order as well.
I would say only IF we miss on everyone you mention above and others whose name we haven't heard yet. He was listed as the 62nd best transfer option probably due to that horrible 3pt %.
