I really hope we don't actually keep 2 rides open. That would mean we're going in with 10 'real' scholarship players (plus Lieb), with 4 being true freshmen. That's awfully thin. I can see Underwood being frustrated at a crossroads with these guys that there's no room to play that will just leave (Podz types) but we need depth/competition at all spots because inevitably some of the guys you have won't be good enough. 2 open rides means we almost can't afford to be way off the mark on anyone (no Omar Payne types). Right now for instance, you're probably counting on Ty Rodgers being able to play the College 4 and Dainja to be able to give you serious minutes at the 5. If they can't, that's going to create issues (even with Nance) because Coleman and Nance can't be expected to play 35 minutes a night each night every game of the year.
There are a number of interchangeable parts. Goode is a 3/4. RJ and TSJ can play the 2,3,or 4. Rodgers has skills to play anywhere except the 5. Goode is 3/4. Hawkins can play the 5,4, and even some 3. Dainja can be a 5 or a 4. Harris is probably a 2/3 initially, but could possibly develop as a lead guard option. Skyy and Epps can play either guard spot.

I can see adding a rotation quality big as a transfer. Beyond that, maybe a graduate student depth piece point guard.

For practice purposes, there are bigs Lieb and Severn. Paxton Warden is a talented walk-on shooting shooting guard.

Brad is consistent. Id bet a decent amount he leaves one open through the summer at minimum

Glad we backed away there. I can see how it makes sense for a desperate program like DePaul but this guy and his camp (father mostly) are incredibly toxic and have the potential to just drive a team into the ground with his attitude and approach. The biggest red flag is how noticeably better Memphis was without him, to a degree that is basically statistically certain that it was not a coincidence or variance.

Such a waste of potential. Reminds me of a more high-profile Jereme Richmond in a lot of ways.

When did Jereme commit, 7th or 8th grade. It seems people were talking about the "second coming" of Jereme for years, before he had even set foot on campus. :) :)

Guessing it's Nance OR Mayer, not both. And I'm still highly curious which transfer guard Underwood really wants (if anyone).
Is that the trade-off? I know the Mayer kid is tall, but he is listed as a guard. Wouldn’t he take one of the open wing spots?

Big time basketball means not worrying too hard if someone who was a low 4 star or high 3 star have their feelings hurt because they can't get tick as the 11th man. One ride for in-season flexibility is fine. There's very little useful flexibility in carrying 2 rides into the season IMO.
