Illinois 26, Minnesota 14 Postgame

I think Illini FB is responsible for 95% of my excessive phone screen time right now. I see it backing off in....mid-Feb ?

I just thought the same thing when I got this notification:

6 hours of that is spent on this site each day…

We have two weeks to get everyone healthy, and then our players need to stay focused and take care of business at Nebraska. There's so much at stake now, but these coaches will keep this team laser-focused. The leadership of TDV, Chase Brown, and the number of stars on Defense will also keep this team with their eye on the prize. I see us being favored in 4 of the last 5 games. Oh man this is fun!
It's one game at a time. The only thing at stake is beating Nebraska in Lincoln. The staff is doing a great job preparing for each team. The student athletes do their jobs. When you play in the B1G and you're on the road it's just one game at a time. There's one opponent to beat. The rest is just noise. If you do your job you'll win. It's the fan's job to go crazy, read the headlines, buy in to whatever the press is selling this week and go for the highest highs and the lowest lows. Our players sound pretty grounded. This staff has them dialed in and looking pretty consistent week to week. I mean, Devito is just excited to go to Nebraska and heard "Lincoln has a pretty good atmosphere" paraphrasing whatever that quote was. They're fearless. I love it.

Agree. As great as the win was yesterday, there were still things that the coaches can use as opportunities to coach the team up and keep them focused. Penalties are one thing that come to mind. And speaking of those, I missed the play when Bryant got the unsportsmanlike or unnecessary roughing penalty. What happened?

I refuse to believe that number. It was both fuller and louder in the stadium today. Could have just been there was more to cheer about this game though. Hard to get super hyped in a 9-6 score 😂.

But seriously, it looked WAY better in person this week than last.
Is the announced attendance all sold/distributed tickets versus actual butts in the seats? If so, maybe more people actually used their tickets against Minny.

announced attendance is all tickets sold / distributed

there is supposedly room for 60,300 or so in there as is.
one day soon we will hit that mark, if the team continues to win more than they lose
do it for 2-3 years in a row, and perhaps we find a way to add more capacity by either lowering the field and/or fixing the horseshoe
if O$U, scUM, and Ped St can all draw 100,000+, there is no reason we cant draw 70,000 week in and week out if we offer a product worth the trip seeing

fwiw, while Im no architect, I find it hard to believe lowering the field is
1. not possible due to the water table
2. not practical due to "sight line angles"
neither excuse makes any sense whatseover.
#1 is easily solvable and #2 is horsecrap

Seems to make a big difference having receivers with great hands. Another thing that was missing in the recent past.
We have several this year. Bryant is a surprise. Williams doing better. Hightower coming around. Washington had some nice catches. Don't really have the kind of athletic tall receiver who can go up and catch the high pass.

nor do we have a QB who has the soft touch to throw that type of ball into the end zone corners.
We are just wasting a down doing that.

TDV is doing an awesome job when we ask him to do what he does best.
We need to stay with that.
Hes not Aaron Rodgers 2.0

I think the bigger problem is the abandoned buried bulldozer under the field. /s

A little unfair because we would have had at least one probably 2 during the Covid year but still true.
