Don’t believe everything you see on social media. Most of the scrimmage was really like a practice against another team. Stats will be skewed. They played one true 20 minute half like a game the rest was essentially a practice. Situational stuff, playing with lineups etc.

Was the 35-33 score accurate for the 20-min half?

Yeah, the Kansas board seems to think that the illini won the scrimmage and even admitted that "its no big deal because they have alot of talent". Interesting stuff coming from a national champion team.... I know its all situational stuff but still promising!

Looks like game was played at Lindenwood.. if only I would have known.. guess that is why they called it a secret scrimmage

Sounds like the scrimmage was good. Nothing better than having an early measuring stick. I love that KU was our opponent (iron sharpens iron). This should be great for the team and provide staff with some key teaching points. Focus should be laser intense this week. Our guys know (not think) they can play with anyone now. #37, lol!

Here's a short write up about the scrimmage on the U of I basketball sports site. At least it gives some specifics about how the scrimmage was structured:

Men's Basketball October 22, 2022 Illini Scrimmage Kansas

ST. CHARLES, Mo.– No. 23 Illinois continued its preparation for the 2022-23 season on Saturday, facing No. 5 Kansas in a closed scrimmage at Lindenwood University's Hyland Arena.

The programs squared off for nearly 3.5 hours on the afternoon, playing a variety of formats including a 20-minute game, then three 10-minute quarters, followed by four 4-minute situational periods, and concluding with segments against zone defenses.

"We got exactly what we wanted from today," Illinois head coach Brad Underwood said. "It was good to go up against a different jersey for the first time and play out a number of different situations. Every game went down to the wire, which was a great experience for both teams.

There were a lot of things I saw today that I liked, but also a number of areas we know we need to improve upon," Underwood continued. "This is why you have these scrimmages; to learn about yourself and get back to work."

Illinois will make its debut at State Farm Center on Friday (Oct. 28), hosting Quincy in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. Tickets are available here.

And here's pretty much the same article from the Kansas basketball web site.

🏀 Jayhawks Scrimmage Illinois
CHARLES, Mo.– No. 5 Kansas men’s basketball played No. 23 Illinois in a scrimmage at Hyland Performance Arena on the campus of Lindenwood University Saturday afternoon.

The two teams played one 20-minute period then three 10-minute sessions followed by four four-minute situational periods. The scrimmage lasted 3:20 and concluded with the two teams playing against specific situations, mainly zones defenses.

“It was competitive,” Kansas head coach Bill Self said. “We had some guys step up and make some plays. We played a ton of situations in which the games came down to the last 30 seconds. That was good for us because we haven’t done much of that yet.

“Our best players played pretty good, but we’ve got to have some of the young guys step up and do better,” Self added.

Kansas will next host Pittsburg State on Thursday, Nov. 3, in an exhibition game. The contest from Allen Fieldhouse will begin at 7 p.m. (Central) and will be televised on Big 12 NOW on ESPN+. Tickets for Kansas men’s basketball regular-season and single games are available here.

Man, am I starved for Illinois b-ball news. :ROFLMAO:
