I'm pretty bored, so I wanted to try to find out what our competition was for what I consider to be the best available slots on TV for this game - FOX, ABC or ESPN, either at 11:00 am or 2:30 pm (night game is off the table, remember). Here are all of our possible TV slots for this game, with the ones that are filled in red:

11:00 am on FOX
11:00 am on ABC - Notre Dame at Navy
11:00 am on ESPN
11:00 am on ESPN2
11:00 am on BTN
11:00 am on FS1 - Oklahoma at West Virginia

2:30 pm on FOX
2:30 pm on ABC
2:30 pm on ESPN - Louisville at #5 Clemson
2:30 pm on ESPN2 - Iowa State at #18 Oklahoma State/#25 UCF at #19 Tulane
2:30 pm on FS1
2:30 pm on BTN

So, the "prime time" slots are 11:00 am on FOX, 2:30 pm on FOX, 2:30 pm on ABC or 11:00 am on ESPN. For FOX, we will compete with the Big XII and Pac-12, and for ABC/ESPN, we will compete with pretty much everyone. Shockingly, there actually are no remaining Big XII competitors for the Big Noon Kickoff slot, so we are competing against Pac-12 teams in the Mountain and Pacific time zones and our own Big Ten peers ... There are a lot of relevant games that have already been assigned a night game, so these are the games we need to beat out, IMO:

FOX - Either 11:00 am (Big Noon Kickoff) or 2:30 pm
Nebraska at #4 Michigan
Indiana at #2 Ohio State
Maryland at #16 Penn State
--- Only competing for the 2:30 pm slot due to time zones ---
Washington at #8 Oregon
Arizona at #10 UCLA (likely 2:30 pm only)
Stanford at #12 Utah (likely 2:30 pm only)

Competition for ESPN/ABC/ESPN2 Slots (Along w/Teams Above)
Missouri at #2 Tennessee (ONLY for 11:00 am on ESPN or ESPN2)
#15 LSU at Arkansas (ONLY for 11:00 am on ESPN or ESPN2)

Almost Certainly FS1 (or BTN for B1G Teams)
Wisconsin at Iowa
Cal at #24 Oregon State
Rutgers at Michigan State
Northwestern at Minnesota

So, to sum it up ... the main competitors for Big Noon Kickoff (11:00 am on FOX) are below, in order of my opinion of likelihood:

Maryland at #16 Penn State ... Penn State has been on FOX a ton and drawn very well, and it's easy to forget Maryland is 6-2, possibly 7-2 going into this game if they win in Madison this weekend. They are also third in the "Receiving Votes" category, so this COULD be a matchup of two ranked teams.
Indiana at #2 Ohio State ... I get OSU draws viewers, but this matchup is an awful one, and OSU has been on FOX a ton. It wouldn't surprise me to get snubbed, but I can dream!
Nebraska at #4 Michigan ... UM has been in this slot FOUR times so far and likely could be again the next week when we travel there. Maybe FOX would opt for another matchup??

If we can beat Michigan State and Purdue beats Iowa, I would be optimistic that the story alone could be worth getting Big Noon Kickoff. If we don't get it, I still think there is a very good chance that we are either the 2:30 pm FOX slot or the 2:30 pm ESPN slot. Knock on wood and all, but I am somewhat confident we can avoid BTN or FS1 with the other stinker Big Ten games above.

Ratings for last Saturday? How'd we do?

Great! Outdrew Notre Dame/Syracuse in the other ABC slot! Can’t remember the numbers, but I posted it somewhere in the Illini Football 2022 thread. Like 2.5 million or something.

EDIT: Also … I’ll be at the Purdue game! The new wife agreed, lol. First Illini football game in a while (usually see them 2 times or more for hoops), I’m so pumped!

Six of the top seven games were on the major networks and the other was ESPN prime time (we were #6 now that I looked it up). Unless we're on a major or in PT not going to get the eyeballs like last week. 2.5 million pretty impressive!!!

Got seats on the 35. Hoping for 2:30 game so it at least gets close to 50 :)…Looks like were just gonna miss the heat wave next week.
Also really hoping for a 2:30 game, not just for the more available "prime" TV slots but also just so the wife and I can tailgate for longer and maybe even stop at a bar at 11:00 am for a bite! Booked a Friday night hotel either way, can't wait!

Just got my seats (125, row 19), bringing the new trophy wife . Fired the last wife, brought her to an Iowa game and we got slaughtered so figured it was time for a change, and oh boy, has our luck changed considerably (you're welcome everyone). Told the new one if Purdue beats us that she will need to start making moving arrangements :ROFLMAO: Definitely hoping for the 2:30 slot, more time to TAILGATE. LFG

We think we get official word on kick time when exactly? Sat night/Sun morning?

Gameday, FWIW, I believe announces Sat night.

Apologies if I have simply forgotten this information, but does anyone remember about what row in the east balcony starts to be underneath the overhang? I would like to avoid that, if at all possible. Thanks!

I wish we had a board Rain Man who could analyze the seating chart and when certain areas become available to gauge how many tickets we have actually sold! :ROFLMAO: OR, we could just get a report from our inside agent, @BRucks!

I saw someone mentioned there were still a lot of student tickets available, but I actually took the social media post in question to be a good sign. It's effectively saying that tickets are going fast enough that if students don't buy their tickets by Wednesday (today), there is enough demand that they are going to start selling those to everyone else! No matter what, I am guessing we are over 55k right now, which will look like a sellout on TV (unless the rain keeps people away :(). Remember, we sold 55,229 (91%) for this game...

Looking at this picture and comparing where the tunnels are on the ticket chart, I think if you are in rows 60 and lower you should have an unobstructed view of the field, and rows 55 or 50 and lower you should be able to see just about the entire stadium.

Oh, we are going 100% - dinner reservations and hotels booked! However, I am still trying to decide where to sit.

Do fans have any strong opinions on the east vs. west main stands?

West
Pros:
Way nicer bathrooms and concessions. Fewer rows, so you will be closer no matter what.
Cons: Perhaps a slightly less rowdy group? Fighter and Mrs. Fighter are not obnoxious, but we're drinkers!

East
Pros: Maybe a rowdier group? Also, looking across at the pressbox all game might actually be a better view?
Cons: Way worse amenities

Horseshoe and upper deck are out if I can help it, but I thought I would ask some of you experts before purchasing!

Awesome, thanks!
Row 50 but the columns that cause obstructed views I think sit about rows 54-55.
