Medium take here, but I think Virginia and UCLA are both better teams and will go further than them in the tourney. That said, 2-1 against those three teams on neutral courts is exceptional
I definitely agree about Virginia. We'll see about UCLA.

But yeah, Texas had no business being #2. Still, that's a good and talented team.

We just played harder than them. We were so, so bad for the majority of that game but we just kept smashing against the wall and it came down just in time.

We have a bunch of good players. If this ever turns into a basketball team, look out.

Stressful game, but never in doubt.

The Illini just proved to the World (and themselves) that they can play with anyone in the Country. ANY...ONE.

World’s most famous roundball floor. Top veteran team opponent. Pressure atmosphere. Illini not playing well for stretches of the game. Got down deep well into the second half.

But... kept their poise. Hit key shots and played energetic defense. Clawed their way all the way back. Talented freshman hits pressure free-throws with game on the line. Seized the lead and did not surrender it.

And again... they did NOT play at their best for stretches of this game. Which means...

There is no limit to what this Illini team can accomplish.

And Our Orange is still better than ‘Their’ orange.

Right now it’s dark on the streets of New York City and in the Prairielands of Illinois. But the Illini’s future’s so bright We gotta wear shades...

Oomg.

I have so much to say but I'll keep it short and stick to two key points.

1) The team I saw in the last 10-12 minutes of that game is a National Champion caliber team. Unreal how we seemed to learn and improve throughout the game. That just doesn't happen.

2) Jayden Epps

NGL, this was looking like another "oh well at least we looked like we belonged on the same court with them" kinda loss. But we grew up in a huge way tonight. We finished strong against a top 5 team.

Freshmen Epps knocking down those clutch throws. Shannon closing it out in OT. Not only did we belong on the same court with them, we were better and tougher than them as well. This was a Final Four caliber match up.

Well done, young men and coaches. Well effing done.

When Hawk called that timeout to nullify the RJ made three I was not in a great place. But then my guy came back out of the timeout and got the assist on the Epps three. A huge sequence of events that could have been awful, but worked out perfectly. Wild. No matter what, this ride will not be boring.
