Illinois 68, Alabama A&M 47 Postgame

I actually thought the effort/energy was mostly a lot better today vs PSU, but execution was awful. Glad Mayer could hit the broad side of a barn today because no one else could. But call out those damn screens!

Senceire our leading rebounder tonight with 8. Love the way he plays.

...... I have 2 pondering problems today , NOT pandering as some say.......

First pondering issue .................................I have been having the same nightmare dream recently.....a couple are sitting in their living room , watching the Illini play and the woman speak's up saying she love's to eat hard boiled eggs , shell and all , and across the room the man is holding their cat doing a Harry Potter Death Eaters thingy on their cat while both of them are drinking a Coke Zero Sugar........OHH Jim........can I have a drink....????...I need to try it first ..

Second pondering issue.........................................

Not really an issue ,,,,,Just needed to see her awesome picture.....I really really did........

I feel so conflicted...........my feelings are locked up deep inside and I thought this would be the game to parole my caged up emotions .....Once again , no can do.........a a&m went on an 18-0 run and got within 1 at 38-37...........we finished the game on a 30-10 run........

WHO ARE WE ??..............The team that came back and whipped texas or the team that crapped the bed against psu...??????

you know , I really don't blame BU for going all apey on the sidelines at all........................Though he does tend to go overboard sometimes , but I have been guilty many times in my life aboot going overboard on certain things........

I just wish the true Alpha male would ascend to the throne and start ruling with an iron fist on the court......

I guess that we won is all that matters .......feels like something is amiss with the lads and with misery coming up , I want them to figure it out quick to lay a thumpin on the miserable miznoz crew........

Whew........................

When is it fair to start expecting more from Skyy Clark? I know he's a freshman, but his production has been somewhat disappointing for such a highly rated recruit.
Dwill as a freshman 6.3 ppg, 4.5 apg, and 1.4 spg on 48 percent shooting, 35 from 3, and 53 from the free throw line.
Skyy as a freshman 8.1 ppg, 2.3 apg, and 0.7 spg on 60 percent shooting, 38 frokm 3 and almost 80 from the line.

Be patient.

We are both teams. A team that plays 5 freshman. We gotta make it until march and then be glad we did when these freshman then have experience.

I agree, playing more like a three star than a five star. Still solid but definitely not doing what a lot of the posters on here were predicting. With TSJ and MM I knew he would not be leading us in scoring at 15+ a game and have the offense running through him.

Agreed. His outside shooting has been poor and his assist numbers are minimal as well. Defense has been good for a freshman but Epps and Sencire's D has been better and Epps offense much better. I appreciate Co Hawk being such an unselfish player but he's passing up too many open or easy shots and Shannon forcing drives into a crowd too often- especially in our half-court defense. Now it looks like RJ has a shooting arm shoulder problem which could affect him the rest of the year- just when he was showing signs of taking his game to another level. Goode can't come soon enough. Great to see MATHEW Mayer coming around on offense but even then would be preferable to take a higher % of his shots in the flow of a good offense giving him open shots versus just 1 on 1. This team could lose in the first round of the NCAA tourney or get to the second weekend but these long scoreless stretches are killer. At least most of the year are team D has been very good.

The one you missed is the one that is concerning:
Dwill as a freshman A/TO 2.5:1
Skyy through 11 games A/TO .92:1

It will be interesting to watch the team develop this season. Underwood teams have a habit of struggling until mid season. There are reasons, but look at last years team. It was just about this time he was going off on them calling them “soft”. I know all about the injuries so don’t bother reminding me. There is a pattern and this season is no exception. In a month we will be playing much better but we could very well lay a couple more eggs before then. I’m not worried about this game despite the lackluster performance. The coaches will get it worked out and it will be fun again soon. In BU I trust.

Well, I may well get ripped for this by Illini Nation, and that’s ok.
I will start by saying I am a huge BU fan. What he’s built is amazing. He’s the real deal.
However, dude needs to figure out that the non-stop screaming may not be the answer to his frustration.
I was concerned after PSU debacle post game that he went a bit overboard.
CoHawks pre game interview (posted on Loyalty) he commented that they just need to tune BU out (or something to that effect)
I see MM commenting that coaches and players need to figure some things out internally.
What’s the deal with BU today screaming during a timeout at a grown man who is part of his staff? (sitting next to Tyler)
I just don’t see how constant screaming, rage, shredding people publicly plays out long term in a positive way.
IMO BU has done great things to rebuild and develop a great culture and winning program….but constant public shaming and humiliation isn’t the answer.

He is shooting 38 percent from three......
