Great post game presser. For everyone who keeps asking “what’s changed” spend 20 minutes listening to Brad and Mayer.

Comes down a novel idea. Communicate, LISTEN to each other, and adjust. Underwood said he’s asking Mayer to call the play in a timeout. That’s great stuff. That’s a winning culture.

Mayer is quirkiest Illini guy I can ever remember. He is an absolute goofball but a clear leader of this team and maybe if he doesn’t speak up a few weeks back who knows what happens.

Also I had been critical of Underwood’s sideline demeanor during the tough stretch. The absolutely meltdowns etc. As he says “no one can put stubborn me” but I have to say watching him since the NW game you can see his change. Yeah winning makes it easier… but again major props to him for making a visible change in himself with this group. Clearly these guys are responding well.

Wow! What a great game that was to experience. I actually felt good after the first half because we had played horribly and were still only down 4. Th crowd was not going to let us lose last night. I was standing and screaming my head off half the game. I forgot I'm an old fart, I was exhausted when we got home lol.

We had our share of head scratching shot selection, defensive breakdowns and rebounding fails but battled through it all and prevailed in the end,

Gutty win.

Shannon kept us in the game the first half.

Be nice to see a couple of our players emulate the Spartans, and shot those 10 to 12 foot jumpers from the paint.

Would love to see Hawk take some of those to open up Dain, but that may be a reason I’m not a coach.

I like the idea of TSJ setting the tone and opening things up by going through him early. He's the good ignitor we need to allow others to do what they do well after teams are trying to address TSJ.

We have 4 guys 6'7" and taller that are going to make good money at the professional level, whatever that professional level may be when they are done at UI. Big, long and skilled is a sought after combo. Despite the complaining at times on this board, and yes at times they do make dumb mistakes, hope we appreciate the talent BU had assembled. Just got to keep it going and remember the next game is the most important game on the schedule.

Because they were playing better basketball and doing what they were coached to do.
Eh. We definitely had some breakdowns earlier in the game.

I listened to the post game comments today and it seems to me like Brad has made an adjustment in this area too.

Couple have mentioned about Brad and his T. It wasn’t called on him, it was on an assistant. He will be introduced to the treadmill tomorrow!
Not arguing, you may be right, but, CBS sports app has it attributed to BU.

Fouls:
Start to Izzo T: ILL-1, MSU 3
Izzo T to BU T: ILL-6, MSU-2
BU T to end: ILL-3, MSU-12

Legit part of foul discrepancy is one team practices with football pads on and plays like it; but, still hard to see that and not think refs can be influenced.

The refs were wildly inconsistent tonight- it’s hard not to see the impact of the T’s as you mentioned after Izzo’s they called 2 straight fouls in one trip on us- the phantom calls on a couple of mSU drives and not calling fouls on our end

The T on our bench after TJ didn’t get a call was well timed because that certainly turned the calls in our favor again- it’s hard to believe officials would be that influenced, but it certainly seemed so

I was there, 3 rows from the top behind the basket. It's the loudest I've ever heard AH, and that includes a whole bunch of concerts in the 80s. The second half was louder than the first, but it was an engaged crowd from well before the tipoff. Sissoko got an adequate amount of boos, there was a lot of chirping at Izzo, and the band and Krush were on fire all game.

One of the great advantages of the video boards in SFC is that they can put stuff up there that gets the crowd engaged that doesn't require anything going over the PA. There were 2 great video sequences in 2H that really got the crowd fired up when we were on D.

Dont think the 2 MSU fans sitting in front of me appreciated by non stop booing at the start, I made extra sure to whistle as loud as could and cheered so loud i have a sore throat today. I was a bit over the top last night... amazing that the blue hairs in A got off of their asses last night immediately after we scored and got loud with out being prompted to. Now lets get even louder when the candy stripes come to town.
