Certainly an important consideration. But, Southmore? Did I miss something?Senior

MD hasn’t lost to a Big Ten opponent at home yetMaryland playing their home chaos-ball successfully against the loosiers.
Rooting for Iowa. Bird in the hand. NW imploding now. Also don’t want Iowa with any more incentive, playing us after a loss.Ultimately, it won't matter. Northwestern will lose plenty of games down the stretch.
Southmore is just a sophomore from the South. It's a thing. I think.Certainly an important consideration. But, Southmore? Did I miss something?
I had a coach who pronounced it that way. Can’t say I know why but occasionally hear it from old southern guys calling SEC games and such.Southmore is just a sophomore from the South. It's a thing. I think.
My pops calls it that. I always thought it was just a generational thingI had a coach who pronounced it that way. Can’t say I know why but occasionally hear it from old southern guys calling SEC games and such.
They need to have more conference games before the new year to keep from these brutal stretchesAfter Northwestern gets done running the gauntlet of 6 games in 13 days the lesson will be...that for the millionth time the rules are different for ScUM and tOSU than for everyone else.
Hmmm, really? Never noticed Brad pronounce it that way before, but I’ll have to listen for it next interview! My pops calls it that. I always thought it was just a generational thing

That's funny. At least he doesn't pronounce soph-O-more. It's not genrational (I'm older than him). My dad's best was that smoke stack on the side of your house,..he called it a chimley. My pops calls it that. I always thought it was just a generational thing
I get that but we had a 5 game stretch in 12 days.Northwestern had two games postponed due to Covid. That's the reason for this brutal stretch.
You realize Kenyon Murray was a key player/friend on the Iowa team in 1993 when Chris Street was killed in auto accident. So he can't spell?

These kids can play several games over a short period of times with quick turnarounds. Doesn't mean your going to get the same result from the last game as the first game. Even though they may put just as much or more effort into the last game its probably not going to be the same. There legs will be weary and there energy will be down. Its like a rechargeable battery, it charges right back up to full power at first but over time it takes longer and longer to recharge. Unfortunately same thing happens as you get older.13 days. Assuming you're talking about 1/4 thru 1/16. That seems pretty normal. The kids can't play over Christmas. And I don't want them to be playing too many games while students are on break.
18-22 year old basketball players can handle 5 games in 2 weeks coming off almost a week of rest, IMO.
To summarize:I watched only the first half of Nwest Iowa, I live in Florida and value my sleep, so I missed the part where Iowa took control. Anyone have a concise analysis of the second half?
Has Nwest come back down to earth?
The kids can do it. What matters is the rest that the other team has had in comparison when you play the 5th or 6th game in a short stretch. If the other team is well rested, that will give them an advantage mentally and physically.13 days. Assuming you're talking about 1/4 thru 1/16. That seems pretty normal. This is why it is so rare and to be celebrated when a team goes undefeated in the regular season (or close to it), especially when there is top to bottom talent in the conference. There will always be a few games in the grind of a long season where a team is relatively tired compared to their peer, which can make or break the game. The kids can do it. They also lost to Indiana on the19th which was 6 games in 15 daysWhat is your definition of well rested?
For Illinois, in their 5 games in 13 day stretch, we lost the first game and won the next four. Anecdotal, sure. But Illinois played on December 29th (against Bethune-Cookman) and lost their next game to Northwestern on January 4th. Northwestern lost to Ohio State on January 1st and still beat us on January 4th. They had a tougher opponent and had 3 less days of rest.
These kids aren't playing back-to-backs or 4 games in a week. They're also rarely traveling cross country during conference play (I realize that will change in a couple of years). Every team deals with it.
I guarantee Brad wouldn't use it as an excuse.
