Insiders... Will we be seeing Goode this game? Almost thinking at this point, do we consider red shirting.

We will see Mulcahy cry a lot though. Never fouls and is fouled every time. Time for him to move on.

Rutgers is NOT a good road team. This year they are 1-6 on the road, their only win on Jan 11 against NW. if we play the same game as we played against the Squawkeyes, I see a 10 point win . . .

And, along with Purdue and MSU, this should be one of the rowdiest environments they have seen ... plus they have never, ever won in Champaign. We have sold out every single Big Ten home game this year (including a weeknight against Nebraska and when students were gone), and I expect nothing different vs. Rutgers. Add to that a Saturday game with a 1:00 pm start time, and I think the House of 'Paign might approach its former glory on Saturday!

I hope you're right. However, it seems like when the SFC has been electric this year, our team hasn't played its best. Hoping it's rowdy and the boys return the favor by pulling out a much needed home win.

Torvik disagrees. They have Rutgers at 24th in road games. And it makes sense, defense travels.

Rutgers plays on the road at Indiana tonight, so they will be getting a good taste of a rowdy environment before coming to town on Saturday. The ideal scenario tonight would be a hard-fought, close, physical game that goes down to the wire or even OT. Tire them out before they have to hit the road for another tough environment in a few days, especially with their depth lacking now.

Not sure if a Rutgers win or loss tonight would help us more because both teams are so close in the standings anyway. I'll be rooting for Scarlet Knights a win because, of course, F*** Indiana. Plus that may take some urgency away for Rutgers, who might be satisfied going 1-1 in a tough two game road stretch.

I'm not sure why we would want to tire out Rutgers. Beat them, and send them on their way to win against everyone else. The win will then be another Q1A win. I do not expect we will catch Purdue, or Rutgers (or IN or IA) in the standings. I'm not sure we even want to get to the BTT finals. Getting the extra days rest, and one less game of tired legs may be worth more. Winning the BTT may propel us to a 4 seed. I'd rather take the 6 seed and make it significantly more likely that we go one round further in the Big Dance.

Of course one roots for Rutgers over Indiana.

Just to nit pick, I believe it's common knowledge that the result of the BTT Championship Game is too close to the Selection Show to be considered. The two teams playing have already been seeded. If a team like Nebraska would not otherwise make the NCAAs unless they won, the Committee simply marks one 11- or 12-seed or something to be booted in favor of Nebraska should the Huskers win the BTT. The BTT Championship played on Sunday at 2:30 pm CST exists for one reason and one reason only - absolute ratings gold. I don't know about last year, but Illinois/Ohio State in 2021 was easily the most viewed game of the regular season that year, and Illinois/Iowa the day before was the second most viewed.

I will always take winning the BTT (it certainly didn't "tire out" our 2005 team!) and another banner, personally ... win the games you play! With that said, if our stamina is for some reason such a concern that we absolutely need more rest than that before the NCAAs, I think the sweet spot is making the BTT semifinal then. I also selfishly want that to happen so I can attend the game. :)

I wasn't talking about us tiring them out, I was hoping the Indiana game tonight would tire them out before they come here in a few days.

I thought the committee had said that they had plans for minor changes for the winning team too. e.g. swap them up one seed or just given them a higher seed on the same line. This can affect which bracket they get, and thus where their first games are played. It is most easily done if they are passing another B10 team (swap them). It can't be a big change since it is really hard for one game to alter the "season's performance".

Not sure your opinion on LaTulip, but he said after rewatching the film, he thought the game was called pretty fairly.

That said, I’ll take some home cooking on Saturday for sure.
I honestly did not think it was that bad. Pretty evenly called for both teams on the fouls. I did think there were a few calls that weren't made but that could be called both ways. They are so close sometimes I am surprised they can even get 50% correct. Wish there could be instant replay from a booth to correct some.but then you delay the game and stop momentum.
