I'm paraphrasing someone else (Werner, maybe) but CoHawk was literally playing the point on offense against Purdue, and then guarding Edey on defense. Who else in the conference could do that? Not even an honorable mention? I'm going into the breakroom at work and flipping over a table.

I agree with the 4 unanimous selections. Mr. Shannon phenomenal season, playing 1 through 4 at times during the season should have been a factor. My guess his inconsistencies from right before concussion to final game kept him from unanimous Coaches and MEDIA. Mr. Booie had one heck of a senior year. Congrats to all, well deserved!

Most surprising choice to me was Derrick Walker as 2nd team B$G.....................MM deserved that spot..........
Walker is honorable mention at best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My opinion is cohawk shoulda got 3rd team .............This snub should be the impetus for him to return to the Illini next year and play his arse off for a 1st team spot and set himself up for a draft selection next year............

JMHO
Mayer was absolutely awful to start the season so I think that's why he didn't get the 2nd team nod.

Was hoping Epps would've snuck in on the All-Frosh team. Here's the full list on the men's side (not sure if already linked):
You could make a case that Fletcher Loyer deserved it over Essegian. I'd say Loyer is snub #1, then Epps. Essegian's stats are on a team with less talent compared to Purdue and Illinois. I think he'll be good but I do think Loyer and Epps probably deserved it a bit more.

Coleman shot 28% from 3 land, 50% from 2, 60% from free throw. He had some amazing defensive play, blocks. Bring ball up the floor occasionally was a mixed bag all season. Either a great pass or a punt to the stands for a turnover. I hope he comes back and the game continues to slow down for him mentally. He has all the physical tools. He is a blessing to have, 1 more season 🙏 Mr CoHawk!

interested rubbing hands GIF

You just know he's going to have an ax to grind for the rest of the year.
Just goes to show that Hawkins is truly selfless and that his stats are a bit deceiving as Underwood gives him a lot of credit for what he does defensively even though you wouldn't know it by the stats themselves. Hawkins is definitely overlooked given that Mayer and TSJ are the primary scorers but his role is very valuable to our success.

Yeah...not even getting an honorable mention nod is pretty surprising given the other names I saw on that list. Like..you can't tell me Hakim Hart deserved it over Coleman.

Team reads like they simply took the best steals/blocked shots guys and thats it. SMH
All-defensive team based on Evanmiya.com player ratings (all games, more than 1,000 possessions; for reference S Harris had a little more than 600):
C McConnell, NW
J Akins, MSU
T Berry, NW
C Omoruyi, Rut
M Nicholson, NW
Matches up pretty well with the coaches' selections; Nicholson a surprise, though.
Edey was 6th, Audige 7th, Hawkins 10th.

Hart definitely had a better season than either of the McCaffery's. Hawkins is a much better argument.

Hart 11.5 pts 4.3 reb 2.5 asst Advanced PER 18.9 Win shares 4.5

C.McC 6.7 pts 4.1 reb. 2.8 asst Advanced PER 13.9 Win shares 3.8

P.McC 10.1 pts 3.6 reb. 1 asst Advanced PER 17.9 Win shares 1.7

Hawkins 9.6 pts 6.4 reb 3 asst Advanced PER 15.4 Win shares 3.1

Yikes. Hawkins didn't even get honorable mention? Gotta wonder if his "antics" play a role in that?

I do feel bad for Epps. There was a 4-6 week stretch where he was one of the best freshman in the league. Then he hit a shooting slump and got hurt.

How about a list of referees who would make 1st team? Only 3 on each team

my intent was to show zero B$G refs worthy of any selections team ...............ZERO.....................NOT EVEN HONORABLE LIST.....

Some probably qualify for DISHONORABLE SELECTION if the truth would ever come out.........

Did Mayer make All Defense? I could've sworn he said he is one of best defenders ever? I hope I either misinterpreted it or misheard it. Because it ain't true.

I think he's already on most mock drafts right now. I don't think doing better in college next year will sway him from a chance at NBA this year even if it's second round.

Agree. Would LOVE to see Coleman another year. But he's on the mock drafts now so if he comes to play in the tournaments, he's gone.
