oof, it's gonna be tough to beat UCLA twice, but I think we have a chance!
That’s jumping the gun quite a bit…

but if we draw UCLA, I want to see Sencire play every minute Tyger is on the floor — and then sit next to him when he’s on the bench.

tape the game? what decade is this?
Okay, okay, DVR the game. I’ll probably refer to “taping games” for the rest of my natural life.
Also, it’s the 20s, so the television hasn’t even been invented yet. Ahh!
If I had a point in any of that, it’s that my personal preference is to avoid watching the game on a plane or catch bits and pieces at airport bars, if and only if, I can avoid spoilers. Your mileage may vary.

Well it's pretty simple, they weren't going to pair us against Maryland or Iowa, so we really only had Arkansas or Memphis. Honestly, I would have preferred Memphis because Penny is as bad as Juwan as a coach. That said Arkansas isn't a bad draw. The committee surely did that very intentionally. Pairing two highly talented but underperforming team is interesting.

The same story has been true for months. We can beat anyone in the nation, including Kansas, and we can lose to pretty much anyone, including Arkansas. So they need to have their heads on straight and play 40 minutes regardless who they play.

I used to be like you. Now I "tape" the games, and check the score with about 10 minutes left in the 2nd half. If its close I watch, and if not I move on with my day. Good games, I will watch the recording from the beginning.

As some have said, Arkansas and the Illini have many similarities. I watched 3 or 4 of their games on TV, and when they are clicking, they are truly impressive. But, they are also prone to going through in game slumps that are surprising, due to their talent level, where they are sloppy with the ball and take bad shots. The Illini could be described the same. If both of these teams are "on" for this game, it will be one of the best first round games. If only one team is clicking, it could be a blowout for either side. I like this matchup, and I hope the good Illini team shows up.

It will be like a watching a Big 10 game, so low scoring and grind it out affair. First team to 70 wins?

I wouldn't necessarily say that. Arkansas likes to play fast. It will be interesting to see if we keep it deliberately slow, or run back at them.

Both teams at their best when they drive the ball. Game decided by the stripes. Foul trouble will determine the winner.

Are the Arkansas guards taller and quicker than are guards???

I apologize if this has already been posted but I was shocked to see Seth Davis actually has is winning this game. I of course don't put much stock in his opinions but find it funny nonetheless.

They have 2 Freshman mocked in the top 5 draft picks this year. Nick Smith 6-5 and Anthony Black 6-7

In the tournament, talent has a way of rising to the top and someone goes off and leads their team to victory - they have 2 guys who can potentially do that - neither shoot the three well, so stopping them from getting in the paint is the priority

I taped games during the Groce years so I could fast forward through halftime and timeouts. It was much easier watch. I have reverted to that some this year.

I have a feeling Epps will be a key in this game. If he can get the ball up the court & limit turn overs, it will be a coinflip game. We'll also need to out rebound them on both ends, because neither team can shoot very well (Mayer & Hawkins with have to crash the glass- we won't out run them).

Ball handling aside, he needs to figure out a way that play defense vs bigger guards....which Arkansas most definitely has. The guard matchups are going to be a major problem.

This is what it is all about. If we got stuck with a lesser team, we may have gotten down by 24 at half and lost by 1. If we play hard and are hitting some of our open 3's, I like our chances. We can beat anybody when we play to our capabilities.

There are several players with NBA expectations on both sides (higher on their side) and I agree with the common posts here of how similar the two teams are. I think one factor will be which side of future professional ballers will come out and say, at this time the professional questions are pretty much answered so let's put the individual achievements aside and see what we can do for our team. He who plays less hero-ball will have the better shot (no pun intended).

Just throwing this out for opinion from all you experts. Since we are now one and done as an underdog.

Is there any value to changing up our defense a couple times a game (throw in the switch everything or almost everything)? It will not be expected and limit some of their athletic advantages. We did look our best when we had this style of defense early in the year. I understand we weren't good enough to run it in the B10, but other teams outside the B10 don't scheme as well against it.
