McDs all American game only has 2 big ten players (both to MSU). Doesn’t say the whole story but big ten not getting true top flight talent comparatively
I’m all in on the look how we play in conference. Nowhere near as free flowing as ACC/SEC/Big 12. If I’m a DUDE, would I want to play that big ten style?McDs all American game only has 2 big ten players (both to MSU). Really talented ballers in the portal. for a big athletic rim protector and definitely 1 pt. Guard, might need 2.Rivals Transfer Portal - Ranking the top 30 college basketball players in the transfer portal
JJ Starling averaged more than 11 points per game for Notre Dame this season.portal.rivals.com
The Big 10 has 4 (Sensabaugh, Schifino, Murray, Howard) of the top 20 draft prospects. Only the SEC has more at 5 (Miller, Black, Wallace, Smith, Philips). The ACC has 0 and the Big 12 has 2 (Dick, George). So I think the Big 10 is doing just fine on talent. The SEC and Big 10 are going to own the top talent over the next 5 or so years with their media dealsI’m all in on the look how we play in conference. Nowhere near as free flowing as ACC/SEC/Big 12. I think we should reduce conference games and emphasize trying to schedule more sec acc and big 12 teams so it won’t be a shock to the style to see them in the tournament. The guys in those leagues are literally built different than ours and move different than ours.I think the B1G needs to have a serious post mortem and ask itself why it’s teams have flamed out so spectacularly in recent years. It could be a coincidence or it could be that there’s a root cause. But it shouldn’t be something where the conference says “we’re the Big Ten… we’ll be fine.”
Speaking strictly from an Illinois standpoint, the last two years we’ve been besieged by injuries. Last year, I believe, is directly related to why we limped out of the postseason. This year, while it factored into certain individual games, our general overall lack of team cohesiveness was our easily foreseen undoing. But does the physical style of play overall in the league lead to a weaker overall tournament experience? Or are other leagues just as worn down by the time March rolls around? I only have suspicions but no concrete answers.
good luck trying to sell that to Fox and the others who just contacted with us for X many games they can put on TV from Dec- MarchI think we should reduce conference games and emphasize trying to schedule more sec acc and big 12 teams so it won’t be a shock to the style to see them in the tournament. Is there a reason that the conference season has always been Jan-March?I think we should reduce conference games and emphasize trying to schedule more sec acc and big 12 teams so it won’t be a shock to the style to see them in the tournament. That would be interesting but I think most teams like the cupcakes early to work on some thingsIs there a reason that the conference season has always been Jan-March?
Feel like all the leagues would benefit from having 1 league game a week and 1 other game a week the entire season. Not just 15 straight games against the league to end the season. I don’t follow soccer but doesn’t that follow a similar format at times of year between your league and some of the special champions type leagues?
Aren’t they also in bed with the Big XII? A challenge to replace the Big Ten/ACC Challenge seems like a no-brainer.good luck trying to sell that to Fox and the others who just contacted with us for X many games they can put on TV from Dec- March
I agree without a huge shift/TV item it won’t happenThat would be interesting but I think most teams like the cupcakes early to work on some things
Fox also has the Big East which has the Gavitt gamesAren’t they also in bed with the Big XII? A challenge to replace the Big Ten/ACC Challenge seems like a no-brainer.
I wonder if the 2005 team doesn't offer a clue. They had a nice amount of talent but what really set them apart is that they were in lockstep both offensively and defensively. This year's team was severely lacking in that department, and didn't have a dominating floor general. Getting an experienced point guard who keeps everyone in line has got to take preference, even over getting a great shooter.we just weren’t that good this year , and from what I saw , no one else in the B1G was that good either . Purdue played very poor-average the last month of the season . no one else was any good either . just a down year .
that said , it’s been a down couple years .
maybe there are identifiable reasons .
I hate when you do this!!!! LOL. The anticipation is killing me. But I trust your knowledge
Is this about a possible transfer in/recruit, or in regards to someone staying that we are originally thinking is gone via portal/draft?
I would imagine we won’t find out about the draft guys until after the Combine/NBA workoutsIs this about a possible transfer in/recruit, or in regards to someone staying that we are originally thinking is gone via portal/draft?
