Looking at rosters for next year and Michigan State is going to be stacked next year. They might bring back everyone except Hauser, and have the 3rd ranked recruiting class with a couple of 5 stars.

This past year I was critical of Izzo. It seemed like he wasn't adapting to the transfer portal at all, and he had a pretty short roster this year. And then they make the S16, almost the E8, and looked stacked next year so what do I know.

Looking forward to refocusing on who's coming back next year, now that the coaching carousel seems to have stopped...at least as far as we are concerned. I hope BU can re-establish building a team instead of importing one. I know we have holes to fill, but I would like to see the core of players back again - Rodgers, Harris, Dain, RJ, Goode (already back) and hopefully Hawkins and/or Shannon. I have never held out too much hope for Epps returning.

As much as I hate to say it. Izzo is a force of nature. The guy knows how to win.

I’m not counting Calipari out forever…but he’s more of a one trick pony than Izzo is. IMO. I honestly think it’s harder to consistently do what Izzo has done at Michigan State than for Calipari to do what he’s done at Kentucky.

We keep Shannon and/or Hawkins along with RJ, Dain, Goode, Rodgers, add a couple experienced guards and we will be fine next year. MSU will be in a class of their own, but we should be able to compete with everyone else

I've looked before at the ratio of Final Fours to 5 star recruits for several top coaches; K, Roy, Cal, Self, Izzo.

Izzo consistently does more with less compared to the others and I think that's the definition of a good coach.

I also appreciate that Izzo seems to get his players to play with a consistent mindset...something that became a glaring deficiency for us this year.

Izzo is great a getting guys that fit his system. He knows who he is looking for and the role they will fill in his schemes.

This year will be "telling" for Brad:

His constant talk about "culture". It took a hit last season. 2 mid-season departures, internal dissention, etc. There's some rebuilding to do.

His focus on the post-season. He didn't win a game in the time of year he said mattered most.

His disposal of his defense. Constantly switching didn't work. And drop coverage seemingly wasn't much better.

His disposal of the offense. Five out, working the ball through Coleman (even at PG) didn't work, and the spread wasn't clicking. A lack of shooters was evident.

The mistakes weren't just his. But he's got a lot of work to do.

Great news! Ton of potential and we saw some awesome flashes of what he can do this year. Now if he can put them together every game then we’ll be rolling…. after we get some shooting of course.

Also, I hope everyone (especially Dainja) is getting free throws up like crazy during the off-season. I can’t stand how many points we leave on the table that is considered to be from the “charity stripe”. How many more games do we win if we hit a respectable number from the free throw line?

Looking forward to seeing how it all settles at the end… I hope. 🤞

As frustrating as his body language could be at times, he still showed a lot of ability in his first full season of college hoops. A lot of untapped potential with Dain, especially with another offseason working with Fletch.

It also allows the staff to focus on finding shooters and point guards rather than needing to find a big man as well. Happy to see this news!
