Kids are treated like pieces of meat by adults hoping to strike it rich.

Kids should never be treated like pieces of meat for any reason. But to be fair... some of ‘the kids’ aren’t so unblemished either. We who have play this sport start as kids with the love of game as the sole driver. But the better ones among us realize that we could try to make a name for ourselves and make some good cash along the way. So for those kids... money becomes a major motivator if not the major one. And once you get to the pros... sometimes there’s a better game going on in between Player Agent and GM than what you see on the court.

We know the old system was with riddled with financial dirty tricks and has been so for many years. At least some of that has been replaced with a system that is at least a bit more open and transparent.

We aren’t going to get perfection. Whatever kind of system evolves in the future we’ll still get entertaining roundball played by the best ball talent on the Planet and we’ll still have love and devotion to our chosen Beloveds. And none of that will ever change.

I think this new obsession with height is an overreaction to our '22 team's uhh...shortcomings.

Sure, you don't want to be undersized as a team. But if you have the opportunity to get a good, skilled individual player, you take him regardless of how vertically challenged he is. I would even argue that our most recent case study, Jayden Epps, didn't struggle on D because of his height. His errors were more technical and mental in nature.

Give me Tyger and let's run this thing back with a legit PG.

I like Tyger's hair. Prefer either one of them that want to commit 1st.
If we're looking for a senior guard that we'll only have for a year, mark me down for the guy who's tournament savvy, has been in high pressure situations under the bright lights and has succeeded. We've been missing that for a looooong time. Put me in the Tyger column.

I am really hoping the Illini get a point guard that will be a facilitator. Seems to me the lack of that type of player led to many of the problems on offense, including the poor 3-point shooting, causing the ball to stick too long in one spot and often being seconds late in getting the ball into the post or into an open shooter's hands. Sounds like Tyger might be just the person.

I like RayJ's offensive game more than Tyger's. I like that's he's a little bigger. I hate Tyger's hair.
I can't believe that anyone is still hung up on hair. What century are you living in? I can see it now, Illinois wins the National Championship. They hand Tyger the trophy. Someone from Loyalty posts : Tyger's hair looked awful in that trophy presentation! Couldn't watch, turned the channel. Watched Andy Griffith. Everyone on that show had great hair.

I mean it still kinda worked like this … People just didn’t talk about it …

You guys saw what happened with Brian Bowen and others … That was happening with dang near every top 100 kid … It just didn’t leak out …
This is what I don't get with this board. Am I just an old now?

The rumors tied to Reggie Rose and almost every Chicago player Illinois lost to Kansas all revolved around bag men and IL playing it straight. My assumption with NIL has been payment being above board helps IL overall since we're not as caught up by internal compliance & being an easy legacy target for NCAA sanctions.

We're never going to get every recruit, but having a big boy coach willing to fight for big boy prospects gives us a real shot at putting up more banners. Hopefully the lessons learned from last year get us a roster that's built for the 2nd weekend.

Height I get … It’s the first thing everyone has always said …

It’s not as big of a deal to Brad because of how big we are at every other position … Every guy on the floor with him would be 6’7 or taller and long … And he grades out as a decent defender … Better than Epps …

Efficiency from the floor is also understandable … But we need him to do 2 things … Set the table and make layups and floaters … He’s elite at both of those things … And he’s better at setting the table than RayJ … IMO … We’ve got alphas … We need a leader of the pack who’s more of a CEO …
For me it’s Tyger all day long. RayJ would be a very nice consolation prize, but Tyger has done it on the big stage. I watch a fair amount of Pac 12 basketball and I’ve always liked his game. And the kid has been starting PG in a Final Four team and 2 S16. I’ll take that over starting PG on 2 NIT first round losses any time.

Sometimes it’s better to keep things off the books … This is one of those situations …

Once he’s in the portal … He better be ready to leave … Mick don’t play like that …
Mick probably knows he’s thinking about leaving right? Would they have that convo with him? Or was a previous poster correct that he has is potentially being somewhat Creaned?

Weber didn't have a bag man, all of our other coaches did.

I knew a top 100 recruits dad from the same class as Shaun Livingston, same area. I asked him about Illinois's chances, he said not good. When Self left, the checks stopped coming. I believe people fairly openly said Groce offered Cliff Alexander $75k, but Kansas outbid us.

The only thing dirtier than college recruiting is politics.
