It'd probably be someone who isn't on the roster yet. That said, people may think I'm joking, but I really like Domask in those late game situations. While playing different positions, both statwise and filmwise, he's got more than a bit of Talor Battle to him. Unlimited range and if he does catch fire I could see him going for an 8-12 point run in the closing minutes. He's the type of guy you don't mind shooting the ball late from deep to get you back into it or to bury some daggers.

Check the stats out:
Talor Battle (Jr to Sr season):
OEFF: 1.092ppp
3pt%: 36.1%
2pt%: 48.1%
FT%: 72.7%
%Pos: 28%
OReb%: 1.9%
DReb%: 14.5%
AsstRate: 23.9
TORate: 12.9
Stl%: 1.6%
FTRate: 34.5
KPom Ranking: 900th

Marcus Domask (Jr-Sr season):
OEFF: 1.056ppp (-0.036)
3pt%: 34.8% (-1.3)
2pt%: 48.4% (+0.3)
FT%: 85.0% (+12.3)
%Pos: 27% (-1.0)
OReb%: 2.8% (+0.9)
DReb%: 16.9% (+2.4)
AsstRate: 25.9 (+2.0)
TORate: 16.7 (-3.8)
Stl%: 1.6% (0.0)
FTRate: 33.6 (-0.9)
KPom Ranking: 927th (-27)

Overall, pretty similar players with regards to stats outside from the obvious of them playing different positions and of Battle being a large volume 3 shooter compared to Domask being a medium volume three shooter with Domask being much better at FT and better at Rebounding and Assists and Battle being much better at turnover percentage and slightly better at 3pt shooting percentage and efficiency. So long and the short of it, despite the only decent 3pt shooting percentage, Domask is a guy whose clutchness makes him a late game threat in a close game. Just my 2 cents.
Talor Battle was one of my favorite non-Illini big ten players ever. This makes me happy.

I’m predicting this is our squad for next year:

PG- DGL
SG- Domask
SF- Goode
PF- Hawkins
C- Dainja

Bench- Rodgers, Hansberry, Harmon, Moretti, Harris

A lot depends on DGL being able to play a minutes right away. Even if you get a low to mid major PG or JUCO to come in I don’t see the ceiling being raised much. Gonna need Goode/Domask to each shoot 37+% from 3, Dainja to be a consistent low post scorer, Hawkins to be a rim protector. Harris to be a lock down defender. Rodgers to improve all facets. A collection of role players coming together to be greater than the sum of their parts which was the opposite of this past year.

I think we will struggle athletically playing Goode/Dainja/Domask together. Hawkins will need to cover up ALOT which he’s capable of if his mind is to it.

DGL is more likely to redshirt than start

This would be not great.

I fully expect to get a true point guard/facilitator in portal, but can Harmon handle point duties? We'll probably need him to at some point in season.

For Coleman/Shannon yeah. But for portal guys nope
Would think a Big would want to know the status of Hawk. Also coaches wouldn’t want to commit to a backup if a starter was required.

I dont think the plan is to play Coleman in that role next year. There is plenty of minutes at the 5.

I thought Hawkins condition for coming back was not having a newborn for a point guard?

There is a 0% chance we don't have an experienced pg at the college level starting for us.
We'll certainly bring one in. And Harmon brings some lead guard ability though we wouldn't want to rely on it. DGL will get the minutes he earns, which is probably a healthy thing. Harris will also be a factor.

I think the question is what we do if Shannon stays in the draft. There will be NIL cash and opportunities to add another big-scoring short term transfer wing.

Personally I'd be much more interested in probing the market for another HS recruit in that scenario. Let Shannon's minutes and shots trickle down to others on the roster for a more balanced scoring load and let's see if that open scholarship is an opportunity to add more talent for the future.

The other tricky thing in lineup creation is that he's been here three years and I'm still not sure what position BU is trying to have Hawkins play.

I’m predicting this is our squad for next year:

PG- DGL
SG- Domask
SF- Goode
PF- Hawkins
C- Dainja
It's funny that people are recoiling in horror at this. DGL is a rare incoming recruit that there isn't a ton of romance for around here, with some justification, but do you know how much better at shooting that lineup is than literally any 5 man unit we put on the floor last year?

Watching, enjoying the athleticism, but thinking, ‘he can bully his way through the lane at this level, but can he pass the ball in the paint?’ 0:55 says, ‘yes he can!’
Has he gotten taller? He's listed at 6-8 on 247 but boy he looks bigger than that.

I'm pretty skeptical of Tyger as an NBA player. Already 23, undersized, just an okay shooter, not athletically explosive. He's very crafty in pick and roll situations but when you've got Thanos guarding both you and the screener the physics of it are totally different.

I would be pretty confident college is his biggest money option for 2023-24.

0% chance he redshirts in my opinion. He's transferred twice at least in high school. He doesn't seem like the type to want to bide his time. Plus, seems we're likely to need him for ball handling depth.

Very concerned that the RS chatter is more about pushing him away.
He may not redshirt but if he’s playing major minutes and handling ballhandling duties this year, we have some major problems.

No one’s trying to push the kid away, but he needs some time to develop and work with Fletch, just like Moretti does. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Also, we need to worry about winning, not whether we are going to run kids off if they don’t play. Coaches can’t coach that way. The portal era gives kids the opportunity to move, but with these kids that need to develop they are going to have to start getting realistic about their ability level and the opportunity to develop or that they can easily be replaced by someone from the portal who’s already developed and ready to play. It just is what it is. It’s ok to sit a year and develop.

Any idea who the other PG is?
Purely speculative on my part:
