Should we wait to see what RayJ does at Baylor before we make that call?
I think we can say the PG plan/ roster construction for the past two years is not good.
Last year two freshman, when getting experienced play in portal was option and common strategy.
This year putting all eggs in basket for 1 player going through draft process when decision made later, relative to other transfers. And also 2nd PG (natural pg) not on roster from what I can tell but someone will play there likely Harmon/Harris/Ty/tsj. Redux of last year and it wasnā€™t great.

The past 12 hours makes me wonder what is up with this fan base. Did we lose a coveted recruitā€¦yes! Are we all upset about itā€¦ yes! For some of us to think Brad isnā€™t the right guy is absolutely crazy. Like have yā€™all lost your mind?! The guy wins and is grey for the program. He rescued us from our worst stretch ever. Brad has a long leash with Josh and the boosters and whoever tells you otherwise isnā€™t in the ā€œknowā€ heā€™s the guy until he isnā€™t. Iā€™m confident we succeed this year and make a deep run. Even if we donā€™t Brad is the guy long term.

Just done with following recruiting. It's not happening anyway. Hansberry is one the best recruits of the Underwood era.

I still don't understand the logic of using the last scholarship on Williams if they still plan to add a point guard. That is just me.

I also don't understand the logic of creaning a player (Moretti) who reportedly showed progress in the weight room.

I guess the sausage analogy applies here.

I wonder if something else is going on that could open up a ride, like academics, admissions ...

Ha ha haā€¦damn fat thumbs.
William's can be a depth piece. Even if we add a grad PG this year next year we are in the same boat. If he can provide 10 to 15 mins a game as a backup PG that is super valuable. With his three years remaing it provides stability.

On Moretti he is the weak link. Everyone just look at our roster. Who goes? Only common sense answer would be him. Agreed Hansberry is one of Underwoods best recruits and the people saying him or Harmon goes is hysterical.
I honestly would be ok with the creaning under other circumstances but I have a bad feeling now about losing Moretti after we lost Podz essentially in favor of Skyy. I wish I could trust Underwoodā€™s evaluation but the Podz situation throws that into doubt. And I know people will say that no one could have predicted Podz would blow upā€¦ I think thatā€™s BSā€¦ I saw a lot less of him than the staff but I knew that he could play at this level.

It seems like a vocal minority of the fan base are reacting as if they have been gas lighted.

This team, as currently constructed, needs a point guard. Teams without point guards will not win in March. You can downplay losing Dennis, but it's a big miss and it puts a limit on what this team can achieve. It's not even about this particular team. It's a basketball fact. Whether someone knew who RayJ Dennis was 3 months ago or 3 minutes ago doesn't change that. Scott Drew may not have heard of RayJ Dennis 30 days ago. Underwood has time and potential options to fill that void. We will see.

When one is a member of a hiring committee and misses out on a top candidate, it is often asked, "What could we have done differently? And the anwer more often than not is nothing. The easy answer is to put the blame on someone,--would of, could of or should of. But decisions are always an interaction between the person and the situation., as well as luck and circumstance, the stars sometimes do not align,, and the cards did not fall into place.

That being said, there has been pretty general consensus for years in this forum that "teams without point guards do not win in March."

Agreed, this was a "big miss."

Jeremiah Williams
Antonio Reeves
Terrence Shannon
Quincy Guerrier
Coleman Hawkins

If Reeves transfers, this could be a potential starting lineup. Damask, Ty, Amani, and Dain will be first off the bench-Sencire and Goode will play a good amount as well. While people are freaking out, this team is literally stacked with depth. One of the deepest teams you will find in the country next year

If heā€™s such a good coach how does he come away from the portal after 3 months with Jeremiah Williams and John Harmon at PGā€¦especially after what we just went through last year
You donā€™t win every recruiting battle. We lost to Baylor whoā€™s been one of the best teams in basketball the last 6 or so years. Whatā€™s coach wins every battle? So you think our current roster is average or bad? Iā€™d say itā€™s a top 25 team in the country with potential to be top 15 and according to insiders weā€™re not done yet. I just donā€™t see how you can call him a bad coach. We were one of the worst teams in the conference when he was hired. Now weā€™re battling for the top of the conference each of the last four years.

There's so many questions around Williams - who's running point if he doesn't heal up in time? I feel like there's options on the roster.

And yea - this team is gonna be good next year, people definitely need to chill lol

This is the same line we heard last year. Overrating the talent and depth.

I'll wait and see.

Two questions if you have a moment:

When is J Williams expected to be back to full strength from his injury?

Is Trey Woodbury not realistic?

1) Very quickly
2) We will see. Assuming someone leaves, I expect them to go after both and see who commits first. There are some waiver concerns with Woodbury though

A player coming off of a bad injury and still needing an eligibility waiver to even play.
I have more respect for Brad's "plan B's" then this one, hope there is more to this story.

Yep, also id like to point out that people are discounting what Williams and really all our new additions may bring. It seems mainly because some are from mid majors. Even Reeves was originally from the Valley. It wasn't long ago that Feliz was from a Florida Juco and folks were having similar vibes going in. What happened then? Well he was awesome, vital to our success, and a fan favorite. Let's give the staff some credit too and also realize there are quality players that are likely better than most realize out there. The staff hopefully knows where they are and who can play and play well even if some hear don't think they can. It won't be the first time this happenned. Some fans here didn't want Jordan Clarkson from Tulsa. He can't be that good. He because he is from Tulsa and this would be too much for him. Well he went elsewhere and is still in the NBA. Feliz was awesome too. Williams played very well for a freshman and has 3 years left. I'm glad we got him and Domask.

Except the depth last year was mostly freshman and sophomores who were expected to take a big leap vs experienced college players. Obviously we don't know for sure how it will play out but not hard to see how this version leaves a little more room for hope about the depth line being true.
