if you were to create the perfect Illini basketball player what attributes of Illini legends would you build this player from? (for example Dee's speed, Myers Length, Richards Keenes 3 ball, Derons vision, Lucas Johnson's aggression)
No one from 89? Kenny's heart. Maybe Bradford's 3 ball (no disrespect to your cousin). Love the others.

Frankie's playmaking, Deron's clutchness, BP3's athleticism, Mike Davis's rebounding, Egwu's weak side blocks, Kofi's size, Giorgi's screens (and dancing), Bradford's stroke, and DMFW's leadership.

Alex Legion’s practice skills.

Kiwane Garris’ free throw shooting (except for that one time).

How exactly do you transfer from Army, don't you sign a commitment to service when you enter West Point?

Maybe he goes ROTC at whichever college he'd transfer to?
No commitment for the academies until start of junior year. ROTC if on scholarship sophomore year

A lot of academy athletes leave before their commitment for various reasons

yes please - thought we had expressed interest.

Chris Johnson is a protégée of former Texas star T.J. Ford. The former Longhorns’ guard would pick Johnson up when he was little and take him to whatever gym he needed to go to. Ford made it a priority to help Johnson, who is from the same neighborhood that Ford grew up in Houston. “He’s the ultimate competitor,” Ford said. “He’s capable of doing anything a coach wants on the floor. He’s a high-caliber basketball player. He just knows how to compete. And he lives in the gym. He’s got a lot of things going for him that can make him a hell of a player.” Johnson said he loves scoring, but he also takes pride in being a complete player. “I love playing defense,” Johnson said.

Interesting we're not on that list all things considered. I thought one of our insiders said we were considering him? Did this change or is he not a possibility?
just because Joe Tipton didn't list us doesn't mean much. Last night Indy said we're in the top 4. I would have figured Alabama would be in that top 4, but they're not listed either.

Some other thoughts on guys/teams/skills that were exceptional (truly elite!)

89's athleticism and talent
05's chemistry and buy-in

Deron's killer instinct and trust in his team
Frankie's swagger
Ayo's attacks in transition
DMFW's first senior year catch and shoot
Luther's first step
Self's recruiting (Kruger did pretty well too)
Kofi for his physicality

I feel like Roger Powell deserves a place for his glue-guy ability, but I'm not sure how to describe that one.
Kiwane was amazing as an oasis during the sanctions.

Gill(Lottery pick)
Anderson(Lottery pick)
Deron Williams(Lottery pick)

If you give me a mix of all that....I'll take it.

This hasn't been a banner Spring/Summer for our insiders as it relates to the PG position. The one successful "boom" was for a guy who is injured, probably won't be able to play this year and has a gambling situation on this hands. That's been a "boom" all right.
