That was reported....not holding my breath. Same was said about some possible Blues in the last season or two and never came backAnd Hicks had reportedly said he would be willing to come back in the offseason even if he was to be traded.

I don't know much about the minor league prospects but my guess is, NO. The number of major league pitches that can hurl it is a fairly small group. For St Louis to have "a few gems" in their system would be pretty amazing. Tink Hence is their top prospect and he needs more work before he would be considered a potential ace. Gordon Graceffo is the next best but is clearly not as solid of a prospect. Reading his bio he appears to be a SP2 at best. More likely a SP3![]()
Here is the new prospects list for the cards after the trades yesterday. A lot of pitchers on there but am not sure if the overall quality of this pipeline. Anyone know if there are a few gems in there that can hurl it?

Me eitherIf you're talking about ROR, that one didn't surprise me to be honest.

You're right, Scott is a few years away and, unless we trade/give up on a few outfielders, its going to be a crowded place. Kids like that standoutPlayers won't give up but Cardinals have been in 2024 mode for awhile. I can see Winn getting the call up but not Scott II. Throwing Scott II from AA to the majors would be a mistake.
Best case is guys like Herrera, Winn and some youth get more at bats/playing time while Scott II maybe bumped up to AAA.

DeJong gives Blue Jays short-term lift, long-term options
TORONTO -- The Blue Jays have found a solution to the absence of Bo Bichette \-\- however long that may be. Less than 24 hours after Bichette left Monday’s loss to the Orioles with a right knee injury, Toronto acquired shortstop Paul DeJong from the Cardinals, the teams announced onwww.mlb.com
DeJong was not coming back after this season....writing on the wall for awhile. Be surprised if the prospect in the trade does anything but a win/win for both teams. Injury insurance for Blue Jays and Cardinals don't have to pay buyout after the season on DeJong.Cards have to hope one of those trade prospects is a future 1 unless were spending big $$$ for somebody this off season, i cant see that.
pitching was the jist of my comment. not sure any of those AA pitchers are ready for the bigs.DeJong was not coming back after this season....writing on the wall for awhile. Building for next season now....adding prospects and dropping payroll for offseason moves. Cardinals will need pitching help and will acquire through free agency/trades.
cant wait for the arenado, winn, edman, goldy infield! Wait, they'll stick Gorman in there instead of DH'ing him.![]()
Cardinals trade slugging shortstop Paul DeJong to Toronto as deadline nears
All-Star shortstop is the third Cardinals player traded to Toronto in the past week.www.stltoday.com
The Cardinals plan to have Tommy Edman back in the lineup Tuesday night as the switch-hitter returns from the injury list. Initially penciled in at designated hitter, Edman could also be the team's shortstop in the coming days.
The team is also discussing promoting prospect Masyn Winn from Class AAA, though doing so later in this month would preserve his rookie status for 2024.
No AA pitcher is ready for the bigs....ever. Maybe in Bull Durham or Major League lolpitching was the jist of my comment. not sure any of those AA pitchers are ready for the bigs.
Eury Perez would like a wordNo AA pitcher is ready for the bigs....ever.
Touche....also talking about a top 10 prospect in baseball in AA for some reason instead of AAA.Eury Perez would like a word
I know there is much rejoicing among Cardinal fans. I'm glad he had a bounce back season. Good for him and it also helped bump his value. Dumping him in the past 2-3 seasons like some wanted would not have gotten them Svanson. It looks like 2023 has been his best year. Hopefully he is putting it all together.
I would like to see StL go after a top starting pitcher. It seems like they flame out every time they make the big investment. I know pitching is tricky. The CY winner one year might be a bust the next and we are stuck counting the years until it is feasible to dump him.Cards have to hope one of those trade prospects is a future 1 unless were spending big $$$ for somebody this off season, i cant see that.
There is no reason for them to promote Winn before the cutoff. Bring him up when it doesn't cost him a chance to earn recognition in 2024.![]()

I know what you mean but this did make me laugh. Their payroll is #17. They are more than $10 mil below the league average. Still if they are maneuvering to go after a big fish on the FA market having more room is a good thing.DeJong was not coming back after this season....writing on the wall for awhile.
