Right but here is the deal. The athletic office charges their rack rates during the off season and there are a number of people that pay that amount for tickets. But then, closer to the game, when there are tickets remaining and sales have hit a wall, they offer special deals to sell the remaining tickets. It's for that reason, that if and when I buy tickets to events, I will do so at the last minute and catch the reduction in price. A lot of people are catching on to this. In the long run, this is going to hurt the athletic office Ticket sales will be sluggish until the closer to the event.
There is a price for everything. The premium the earlier purchasers are paying is for the guarantee that they will have seats and the wider selection of seats. You are choosing to take the risk that they'll be seats available later and are less concerned about the exact seat you purchase in exchange for a lower price.

If you want a good team playing good games, you have to be willing to pay higher prices. If you want cheaper prices, you are ultimately still paying for that by having to watch a crappier team and/or crappier opponents.

Simple supply and demand.

Expecting to see same starters unless injury or bad play but expect the minutes to vary based on matchups and game performance.
DLG- “Good Curbelo” type offensive energizer
Harmon- Andre Feliz type stabilizer
Harris- Defensive stopper for oppositions hot hand
Hansberry- when we are outrebounded
QG- when we are being pushed around
Dain- when we can’t drive the ball.
BU doesn’t change the starters based on matchups, but he will vary the minutes. Our two point efficiency can’t be based on a team with no shot blockers. Won’t be the same vs Kansas.

Since I am a season ticket holder I was buying some tickets for friends today. With the complaints about the Kansas ticket prices, I looked at the Indiana and Iowa ticket prices since they are weekend games against a high-quality opponent. The tickets are $90 and $80 respectively for seats in the 200 level. With that in mind, $40 for a ticket to the Kansas game is a steal and my payment for my mid-cout 200-level seat is reasonable.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Brad treat this more like a regular season game without concern for how many minutes everyone gets. Or the first half is all business for both teams then the second half becomes the lets work on lineups and see what develops. Just guessing for the fun of it. Does anyone have any insight on how we are going to approach this exhibition game?
My guess is the first 8 minutes or so, both coaches will treat it as a real game. Then for the next 24-28 minutes try out lineups, rotations, etc. And then if the game is still close, play the final 4-8 minutes like a real game. If so it'd give a strong balance of allowing the in person and tv audience to see a good game with high level competition, allow the coaches to work on what they need to and get their bench minutes, and also should make for solid ratings as well as get great publicity

I'm going to reiterate my hope that the Hall gives Self a warm welcome back. There is no reason at this point to direct forced hate at him. Direct all the boos and venom to HD by all means. But let's show some damn class and be a respectable fanbase.
I agree. He took a promotion. It was 20 years ago. It's time to let it go. Unlike my hatred for Bruce Pearl which is eternal

I think it would be even funnier if HD was greeted with silence. He enjoys the boos and embraces being the villain. Showing him some hardcore apathy would throw him off his game.

Think that ship sailed some time ago, my friend. You ever seen Illini fans on twitter?
Edit: internet fandom and people attending in-person might not be an apples-to-apples comparison.

Crush should reply to his starting announcement with "BABY KOFI."

This quote at the end of the article…

“”They know how to practice, and they do things right,” Underwood said. “They are very, very astute listeners. They pick things up. Last year, at times, it felt like you were coaching kindergartners because you had to keep repeating things over and over and over and over and working on things over and over and over to get one simple thing done. This group is very different that way.””

It's a fund raiser!

If the game was in Lawrence it would have already sold out.

Quit being a cheapskate and buy tickets.

It is for a good cause. It will also be a great game.
If we were closer, we would.

That’s a lot of Overs. Seven. Yikes. From watching that team all last year, now I don’t blame Mayer for separating himself and just doing his iso stuff. Granted it was selfish but yikes.

I wouldn't feel bad for him- he himself said in interviews he came in caring most about his efficiency stats and that was his focus. And he determined the best way of doing that was to take shots as quickly as possible and not pass to minimize likelihood of turnovers that tank those metrics. So it seemed fairly clear that when Brad called sets that weren't drawn up for him to take quick shots, he wasn't interested.

It's not so much that he left that bothers me, it's how he did it. I understand Kansas is a dream job for many, but don't go the Baltimore to Indy route.

Yep. Had he just gone to Kansas, fans would've been sad but generally appreciative of him. Even the leaving in the middle of the night with no due notice wouldn't have been a huge deal if it weren't for Self actively recruiting Dee and Deron to transfer to Kansas with him. While yes, this is commonplace now, it wasn't so common back then and looked at more as dirty dealing. As in why are you not just leaving a school you're coaching at but also purposefully trying to go scorched earth and steal away the talent? It did not sit well with fans, myself being one of them.

Personally I'm not a fan of Self. He did a good job in the short time he was here, he's doing a good thing agreeing to the charity match, but he's just not a coach I can actively cheer for or wish he does well.

My husband and I attended the WDWS radio show at the Esquire on Monday night where Coach Underwood was the guest. It was obvious that he has lots of respect for Self, saying he’s a HOF coach, has probably the best point guard in the nation, and that his players are all “dudes.” He also said that he really likes this Illini team. As it said in the above NG article, the team has had 14 practices thus far, and every practice was good. At Monday’s practice, Amani and Dravyn stood out and dominated, which gives him a nice problem. Lots more was said, most of which is in the above article by Ritchey. It was a great show, and we were lucky enough to get to go to our first one where Underwood ended up being the guest. Brad is extremely witty and candid, and he really made it fun with his dry sense of humor. Loren Tate was there, and they obviously have a great relationship. When Loren had a question, Brad said quickly before he could ask, “I’m not going to tell you who I’m starting.” Loren retorted, “I’m not going to ask who you’re starting. I want to know with ten minutes left to go in the Kansas game, who is in there?” Brad answered, “I’m not going to tell you. The players will let me know who is going to be in there.”
