Proud, proud effort by our men.

High degree of difficulty game and we battled with tenacity. Buckled for just a bit in the second half due to overwhelming energy in the other direction forged by bad/highly questionable calls, a rabid and low literacy level fanbase going crazy, and clutch play by a couple Volunteer players - and this was the difference in the game. All things we can and will learn from.

But these last three games have been, unequivocally, a demonstration of our maturity, cohesion, diversity in weaponry, and potential.

In this three stretch gauntlet, we leave with two powerfully taken, golden wins in our purse, and a third game where we showed we can play with anyone, anywhere.

I’m hype for our future.

The Nice:

A March-tournament-style game in December.

A good yardstick game for the Illini to measure where they’re at – and where they need to be.

Showed good fight at the end to make things close.

The Not Nice:

Letting Tennessee have their way almost at will to get into the paint and drive to the hole all day.

Domask couldn’t settle into his game.

Shannon was kept under control for a good part of the game.

The lack of true Point showed up again with ballhanding woes.

Bottom Line:

The Beloved need to up their overall game if they have hopes of getting beyond the Sweet Sixteen level.

Gotta find a better way to clog up the middle.

But still, Our shade of Orange is way better than Theirs.

Bummer. Was really hoping to keep the winning streak going.

Guys, if anything should be taken away from this game it’s that if Shannon or Domask don’t have their A game, we’ve got Quincy rounding into form. We gave them too many second chance points and yes, a lot of that was from over the back fouls, but that’s life, especially on the road. With a few exceptions, I thought Coleman had a decent game too. This team is going to win more than they lose and I feel better about them in March than last year’s team by a mile.

What happened to our defense? We've given up 86 and 89 points our last two games. I thought that was supposed to be our strongsuit? WOuld really like to see it come back. If it was there these last two games we win easily against FAU and would have pulled it out today.
