After spring ball will be the next wave of transfers

But, directionally, they are not as interesting as this group. It's often the group that found out they aren't competing well at their given school. It's how we go from Avery Jones to the other JC kid (Leys?) that has no chance. Sure, there's the occasional Brandon Peters, but if we're depending on the post-spring group, we're in a bad spot

It's an interesting thought - I think you're right that spring transfers are more likely to be less successful at their next stop but would like to see some data. I feel like all of the offensive linemen that transferred in the spring across the country had a terrible hit rate.

Regardless, if Illinois gets someone like Hastings, they likely only enter the spring transfer market looking for a proven commodity, making it easy to identify someone who would enter the portal that would fit the prerequisites.

The jc additions to finish the 2023 class were brutal

Yeah we’ve had some missed opportunities last year and this year in the wins column and the recruiting has been “meh” at best. Really got pick it up or else we’re gonna get left in the dust.

2024 #1 QB Dylan Raiola switched from Georgia to Nebraska yesterday. 2023 top 5 QB prospect Dante Moore transferred from UCLA to Oregon. Oregon landing Dillon Gabriel and Dante Moore in one week is crazy.

Early signing day starts tomorrow so will get some of our guys inked

I'm really starting to hate Ryan Walters. Everything he does is in our face it seems.

You had to know this was coming …

And it has nothing to do with Walters … Reggie wanted to be with CP … And honestly good luck to the kid … Wish him nothing but the best …

Reggie told Bret he was going to go to Purdue before he even entered the portal …

I'm hoping for some actual difference makers in the portal this year. I understand spending most of the NIL on retaining players the past few years, but we don't have IW, the law firm, Pearl, or Adams anymore. I don't see a ton of players on our current roster that would require a huge NIL number this year. Bring us some players, BB.

I'll assume there is a real fight to keep Anthony Johnson. Badly need him for his experience.

Let me guess, Some other school offered more money again. I am really angry over this that we don't have enough people that care enough about the football program and won't donate more money for NIL so we can get good players and get keep them . it happened last year with the Center and apparently it's going to happen again. I haven't seen anything official yet, but if this does happen, it's going to be depressing.
I am hearing this point and I respect it.
However, I pay for season football tickets, travel to away games, go to home basketball games. etc. meanwhile, I also have to pay my mortgage and car loan.

I don’t feel it’s the responsibility of fans to have to pay players to come to Illinois.

If that is the case, it’s time to completely professionalize college sports. Allow, trades, collective bargaining, pensions, etc.
