I think we need to take a breath before declaring the screenshot of a text that was posted on Twitter by an internet rando as the gospel truth.

It would not surprise me if it were the truth, and nothing would make me happier than to see Terrence suit up once again for the orange and blue. But until we have confirmation that the story is real, we are setting ourselves up for a lot of disappointment.

While I know it's difficult not to run with any new information we can get ahold of, I think we all need to be really careful when quoting any tweet that hasn't been corroborated. Yes, it could be true and from an actual source close to the investigation, but most of the time, it won't and could even be damaging or misleading. So I recommend the striking of the brohosophat tweets and any analysis of them until there is additional mention of these allegations by counsel or additional evidence is provided.

Hopefully with Josh's presser and possibly additional statements from counsel, the DA's office, or the police tomorrow, we'll have a lot more information to go on. This obviously is highly unsettling news to put it extremely lightly, but in a lot of ways, the best thing we can do as the public is wait for the steady leak of evidence as there's not a whole lot to go on right now other than the allegation and charge itself.

Agreed.

There’s a 0% chance that’s what is happening.
LOL you're picking nits here, you can indict a ham sandwich, etc.
If the DIA thinks this mess gets cleaned up in the short term with some miracle alibi that makes this all disappear, that strikes me as delusional.
I think there is only one way it gets cleaned up quickly - the accuser recants. Intent is then gone and so are the charges. I hope that happens

The season is over in three months. Cases don’t go to trial that fast. The only way this resolves in TSJ’s favor before then is if the DA dismisses the charges, which seems unlikely to me at this point.
Indeed, and also depends on what the requirements for team reinstatement are. If its a not guilty verdict in a court of law then we have likely seen the last of TSJ for the Illini.

Some recent developments that I have heard on my end....Illinois thinks that they can get him reinstated. If the story I heard lines up, this is complete BS

Again, this is still a developing situation
Maybe I’m reading this weirdly.

What’s BS: the accusation or that Illinois thinks they can get him reinstated because this is more serious than we hope?

I believe in innocent until proven guilty. I also believe you can't play someone with a rape charge on your state university's basketball team. It's not going to happen pending something turning in the next few months. And I really hope fans, the AD, & coaches agree with this.
So even if he’s proven innocent during the season he still shouldn’t play?

In my experience within the judicial system I don’t believe the wheels of justice turn that quickly. A jury or bench trial would be months out. I’m not sure a path of proving innocence would be within the next month or so. I just pray and hope Terrence (if wrongfully accused) is still able to pursue his professional career. I have seen him shooting up draft boards recently.

So, umm … anyone here familiar with TSJ’s lawyer Mark P. Sutter? Just based on my review of his website and what little else I could find via Google, he seems a curious choice to defend a high-profile rape charge in Kansas. 🤔

I do wonder... if we are in one of the good timelines and a grand jury declines to indict, would that enough proof of innocence in the eyes of the media? The DIA?

Sadly, whatever timeline that’s in, that time has already passed. He’s already been charged. He’s past the indictment stage.

Besides, if we were in one of the good timelines we wouldn’t still be waiting for our first national championship. 🫤

Since news broke this afternoon, I have been reading everyone's posts and trying to put together my thoughts. It is horrible news but I think the easiest thing is to sum it up. So here goes.

Terrence has been accused of a horrible crime. None of us, except for Terrence and the girl, know what really happened. There are only two possibilities, each with their own consequences:

1. Terrence IS guilty of raping the girl. If so, then the legal process will play out over 8-10 months and he will be punished for his actions. Because of how long it will take, his college basketball career is over, he will not be named in All American, a Big 10 first-teamer, or leading the Illini to a good postseason tournament run. He also won't be drafted in the NBA draft this summer and be able to earn millions of dollars in the league. And if he's guilty, he deserves all of that.

2. Terrence is NOT guilty of raping the girl. If so, then the legal process will play out over 8-10 months and he will be exonerated. Because of how long it will take, his college basketball career is over, he will not be named an All-American, a Big 10 first-teamer, or leading the Illini to a good postseason tournament run. He also won't be drafted in the NBA draft this summer and be able to earn millions of dollars in the league. IF he is not guilty, that is a horrible thing to have happen to him and I feel terrible for him.

Both alternatives make me sick, so there is no good outcome. Because of everything he has done for the team, my natural leaning is to believe alternative #2. But that makes me sick because it is so unfair for Terrence.

Just like everyone else on here, I know nothing about what transpired, so I will have to wait and see how it plays out. But either way it makes me absolutely sick.
It took 2 years for the Sacred Heart football players to prove their innocence in 2018.

In Bizarro world, the time from Sept to Dec might have been spent by TJ's attorney and an attorney for the accuser attempting to negotiate a financial settlement to keep it out of the press. When negotiations failed, charges were filed. I hope Superman gets out of this predicament .

I just finished reading the thread and I find the LvilleILL post hopefully describes what is actually happening.....He is a brother and has always given truthful insider info and I believe what he heard is how the Illini program feels based on their direct relationship with all the material facts.......

I don't know if the tweet about what happened at a bar is real or just heresay , but if there is any basis for it being real , then how in the hell do you charge him with rape ??......Is a finger all that's needed in Kansas to charge a felony indictment for rape ??......

After absorbing all the posts and legal documents that we know to date , I'm already in a MASSIVE UPROAR.......

Based on what we know , it's easy to read between the lines on....................

1.............why the football game against KU was cancelled................
2............the D.A. in Douglas County has a history of being a difficult personality and not liked by her peers...........
3............the tweet about the bar ( whether true or not ) , does raise concerns about the validity of the actual events being charged..
4............social media , in today's world is a powerful force in the rush to judgement crowd......

I still believe TSJ is innocent till proven guilty and after my researching this morning , I believe he is innocent and the victim of the old belief of " hell hath no fury like a woman scorned " syndrome....This is in no way my belief that all women are this way , but sports has a history of wrongful charges to gain financial tidings.......

JMHO and in no way my attempt to injure anyone who reads my post......I am so sad at this whole episode coming to the forefront of such a promising year from TSJ and the Illini program.......

I also believe that a young man who goes to the gym every morning at 4:45 AM to hone his enormous skills would risk all the future benefits of this dedication to his basketball expertise.......it doesn't jibe with me and until irrefutable facts come to light that he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt will I accept the alleged charges are factual.......

JMHO...................and I apologize if this post offends even one person.....In no way was that my intent......

The statement from TJ attorney about airing it all in court is aggressive. If even half of what is being aired around is true the accused is going to look embarrassed.

In case any other boomers out there had the same question that I did (is third base considered "sexual intercourse"?), the answer, under Kansas law, is yes:

21-5501. Definitions. The following definitions shall apply when the words and phrases defined are used in article 55 of chapter 21 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, and K.S.A. 2012 Supp. 21-6419 through 21-6421, and amendments thereto, except when a particular context clearly requires a different meaning:
(a) "Sexual intercourse" means any penetration of the female sex organ by a finger, the male sex organ or any object. Any penetration, however slight, is sufficient to constitute sexual intercourse....

I had assumed this, and many others surely did, too. Thank you for digging up some confirmation.

I had started on a post (my first one) about how excited I was for the Purdue game next week, and I am saddened to write on something of this nature instead. I'm anxious for the facts to come out so we can learn the next steps. That said, my brother served at Ft. Leavenworth about 15 years ago, and he said Kansas has some of the toughest judges when it comes to divorce, domestic violence, and rape accusations. He always said it was cheaper to pay a lady of the night than to pay for an attorney.

Granted, his experience was related to a bunch of 20 something rowdy men and their days in court, but it seemed relevant to the current situation.

Correct. Not the point of my post though.

I went googling last night and thought the same thing. He's licensed to practice in Illinois. Didn't see anything about Kansas which has me scratching my head
