Obviously, huge blow. Gonna need the next tier to step up, and ditto with the complementary guys. Could Harris take the shirt off? Brad's coaching chops are gonna be seriously tested.

I don’t see how Shannon is not gone for good, even if innocent. Let’s see what the rest of the boys have in them.

Rather than give up on the season (as was my initial gut-punched reaction), I think this calls for a recalibration of expectations. Are we still an upper-echelon, B1G contending team? Likely not. Can we remain a top 30-35 type of team? I think we can.

Big opportunity for several guys. But I think it will be important for no one to try to step in and be "the guy". Have to win with consistent team defense, rebounding, and effort. I'll also be eager to see how Brad adjusts as he's proven to be adept at making mid-season alterations in the past.

We can still end this season proud of our guys, albeit for different reasons than we expected.

I know this is probably silly, wishful thinking. But IF this senior-laden team can come together and overachieve, it can still be a beautiful season. I think this is still a tournament team…?

I'd say it's time to burn that redshirt and get Sencire back into the fold. This will also open up opportunities for DGL but I'm afraid he's probably not ready for all that pressure. Moretti is also an option but how much could we really expect from him when he does get healthy?

I'd say that we'll have to lean heavily on Domask, Guerrier, Hawkins, and Goode for offense. Also, I wonder if this affects Dainja at all moving forward w/getting more PT despite him not being a guard? Will Brad have to completely overhaul their offensive schemes? All very interesting questions to address moving forward

One thing that is really interesting is does Harris forfeit his redshirt? If he plays tomorrow night, I am afraid that is it as far as any thing, and I think they are very remote at this point, eliminates the chance of TSJ playing college basketball again.

We can all mash our teeth about this now and I think it is totally normal, but we still have a very good experienced team. Since BU has know about at least some possibility that TSJ may not play an entire season you would think he would have been planning for this possibility since he was made aware.

Maybe just my opinion, but I think Sincere for sure should play this year as I just don’t see a path to TSJ playing at Illinois again. We will need his defense in my opinion?

I think playing Harris is short-sighted. He willingly say out all these games to preserve a year of college eligibility, so to burn that now wouldn't be the route I'd take, FWLIW. We have other guys that should be able to step up. Harmon, DGL, and Goode should all see many more opportunities. IMO, Harmon probably benefits the most here, as DGL is still a freshman and will only play spot minutes and Goode has a role, but his role will likely always remain "shooter."

Half of the season hasn't even gone by yet. The Illini needs all hands on deck. Sencire is a lock down defender and he would fit in well sans TSJ. He fits better than DGL does to be honest. It's not like we are into mid February. Sencire has missed only 1/3 to 2/5 of the season if you think about it. It is not short sighted to bring back a player who would be able to play 15-20 mins a game if TSJ is no longer available. Logically speaking, Goode should've redshirted last year but he came back late in the year to help provide a boost. A boost is what we need as far as defensive continuity goes.

Could be short sighted, could be his opportunity. Loved the year off (Luther type improvement was my wild dream), but now if he can provide minutes?

I guess I see it this way. Before SH decided to RS I sort of figured him at 12-15 minutes a game just based off of last years minutes and the skill set he has at this point.

Now on the other hand if that is say 18-20 minutes per game is it worth it? Not sure, so not saying you’re wrong but we may need the additional guard/wing player? Then again if Dain takes up those minutes last thing we need is another lane clogger.

My real point was BU must have been thinking about solutions to this “what if” from September on right?

We need Nico back asap. Think Brad and Sencire would reconsider the redshirt if he is done for the year?

No one person will replace Shannon. We’re going to need everyone… but, imo, mostly these three. CoHawk, Domask, QG. You could throw Goode in there also because we’re going to need to replace his 3pt% somewhere and the other 3 I listed im not sure will be consistent enough
