To compesate for the loss of Shannon I think we need to have another great rebounding game and a good 3 point shooting game.
It we do well in these areas again I think we come out on top.
Agree, without Shannon I do not think we will see many transition points against Big 10 defenses.
We've outrebounded everyone that we've played except for Florida Atlantic (by 2) and Tennessee (badly). Most other games have been heavily in our favor.

I think the boys will be fired up for this one. The rain is gone and I've polished my crystal ball. A reasonably comfortable win by 10.

I have a good feeling about this team. Without TSJ, we may be handicapped but the glue guys are going to rise. I think we’ll end up with a solid big ten season, starting with this game. 78-69

Thanks Bill....I was aware of all those before 1955 and witnessed all via television thereafter. A sad history of misfortune....most of all in 2005 when outside influences decided who should win before the game was played.
Dick Vitale having to stand on his head on live TV should have been in there.

Harmon coming alive was the best thing to have happen against FDU, IMO.
He was a big time scorer for his previous team.
Domask and QC have already started to play great.

Not having TSJ to lean on could actually help these good trends continue.
Then when (if) TSJ comes back, we really are coming close to a FF caliber team, IMO.

This is a sneaky huge game. Without TJ, we likely lose to Purdue on Friday.

Which means if we lose this one, we likely lose both this week. That drops us to 1-2 in the B1G and likely down to the bottom end of the top 25. At the moment, NW is 72 in NET, so this would be a Q2 loss, but if they fall 3 more spots, it would be a Q3 loss.

You never know what you have on your bench until the player is given an opportunity. Podz is a great example

Coaches see these kids in practice every single day. They know exactly what's on their bench.

I see many posts about Podz in the future

Ok, time to test what this team can do. Mid pack BIG team in their house and they have an above average PG.

I also wonder if there is less pressure without TSJ. We’ll have guards in there getting more minutes without concern that their first bad possession will be their only possession, a put it all on the floor and what will be will be step-up mentality from everyone… this could be a growth opportunity for some.

I will forever believe every home should be an expected W.

Agreed, but I always get nervous during winter break when Krush isn't there.

And NW is one of those teams that can lull a crowd to sleep. They play at one of the slowest tempos in the country and don't turn the ball over.

That is an INCREDIBLY positive spin to put on this. I think a more likely spin would be the concern for an individual guy, who's expected to step up, trying to do too much and force things. The transitioning of going from a team with a ball dominant alpha that could/would take over end of game situations and getting a critical bucket to end another teams run or calm the team down on the road...to a team that's going to use the 100% shared responsibility approach is going to be difficult and it's probably going to take time.

in close games and in crunch time, I'm extremely interested in whose hands Brad puts the ball into. We really don't have a guy who can create their own shot or get to the rim and finish consistently. That's going to be fascinating.
