Are we still actively recruiting Koa Peat or Trey McKenney? Ik they’ve been mentioned before as longshots and either of those guys would be huge gets

Also, insiders... I know at one point it was said that if we didn't get him (Fears) in the '24 class, that getting him in '25 would be much tougher. Was this an NIL thing that set us apart or the guaranteed start (I think this was also mentioned).

What this team needs is an athletically skilled 7 footer and another 6'7" wing or two. Then a couple of role players who can shoot and defend. Why would anyone else want guys like that?....but WE NEED them ;) . Not sure we have the NIL to keep a team like that intact, especially if most are out of state/country.

2025-26 roster
Guards Fears, Butler, DGL, Morretti, Harris
Forwards Johnson, Jaktys, ? ? ?
Centers Hansberry ? ?

Seemingly, there are several strong options to fill out those ?, but they will NEED a really good 3 and a really good 5. With this kind of talent on the roster, that should not be a hill that can't be climbed.

At 77, I have been waiting for an Illini NC in basketball for almost 70 years. Hope I live to see it.

The puzzle pieces are shaping up. Hope BU can find the "everyday guys" he wants to put it all together. Not easy finding elite, older talent, like Q, Harmon, and MD, ready to play just a cog in the wheel and shine when necessary. They don't need the spotlight every game, but can be counted on to do elite things when elite things are needed.

Yeah, he was 4* #27 on 247, now only 3*.

By all accounts he is a very nice guy, hopefully he figures it out at UNC.
He seems like kind of an old school 4 but Bacot is kind of a similar throwback player and had a ton of success at UNC though Bacot is bigger.

Let me ask you all a question. I get Ayo and whatnot but after Clark, Epps, Podz, probably DGL. Why do these 1/2 guards commit to Illinois? Don't get me wrong I am glad Fears has verbally committed but I mean what makes him think it would be any different? I mean to think Daddy Brad isn't going portal hunting to try to stay as old as possible they have to understand in patience and trusting the process which takes a special athlete in a world where their main goal is to get to the league as quickly as possible.

Anyone know who was the coach in charge of bringing in Domask, Harmon, & Quincy? Is one of the assistants scouring the country right now for possible transfers? What is the process they use to find these guys & how soon can they legally contact them.
