How old is Thad now? Gotta think they’ll go younger than him.Hope they don't tab Matta again. He was a huge thorn in our side.
56. I would be shocked if they actually considered him again, but he sure was successful while he was there. How old is Thad now? Gotta think they’ll go younger than him.
There’s also an alternate universe in which they weren’t EJ Liddell’s dream school, which was of no thanks to Holtman, and he was fired a couple years ago.I feel like there's an alternate universe in which Malaki Branham stayed for his sophomore year, was Big Ten POY on a great team, a much higher pick in the next draft, and Holtmann's Buckeyes are still cruising along at the top of the conference.
Yeah, I seriously do not understand why you would go to Ohio State vs., say, Illinois. Both have good-not-elite tradition (OSU has more peaks but also more valleys). Both seem to have about the same expectations? Illinois has better fan support, facilities and allegedly superior NIL for basketball. If there's any justice in this world, the undying fan apathy for that program will result in a frustrating and disappointing coaching search for them.
OMG. I had to look that up. Thad Matta looks terrible and thought he was much older than 56.56. I would be shocked if they actually considered him again, but he sure was successful while he was there.
You can play the what if game for every coach in America. If you have a pulse on your program and players you can somewhat prepare for these situations and come up with a plan. (See. John Groce missing PG recruits)Still think he’s a good coach. Both he and Howard have gotten a little unlucky with guys leaving early for the NBA who weren’t necessarily expected to be one n done. How different does Michigan look with Buffkin or Jett Howard this year and how different does OSU look with a Junior Branham and a soph Sensabaugh?
And Brad’s had some attrition through the portal but has generally been fortunate in NBA decisions. How different does Brad’s record look if he doesn’t get Ayo/Kofi through their Jr years, or 4 years of Coleman or a bonus TJ year?
In a very real sense Hawkins and Shannon are collecting money that Bret Bielema doesn't have in his kitty, whereas Harbaugh and Day got the money that might otherwise have kept Bufkin or Sensabaugh in school.Still think he’s a good coach. And the prior comment is why, at the end of the day, I'd rather take the Louisville job than the Ohio State job.Yeah, I seriously do not understand why you would go to Ohio State vs., say, Illinois. I always wonder if I were a coach if a job like Ohio State - good on paper - would be a no-go simply because I want to coach somewhere where the fan base is really into it. Obviously, that can be a double-edged sword if the interest crosses over into delusion (see Indiana).
Would Sean Miller leave X for Ohio State?…
Also where would we rather have Porter Moser end up… Ohio State, DePaul or SLU?…
This is going to be an insane offseason with coaching movement
apparently there's rumors that McDermott has issues with the AD at Creighton so take this as you will
Depends what other jobs open … He’ll 100% take the call though …
The odds of Juwan being gone at the end of the season seem pretty high, but what about Fran? Seems to me like he’d be on thin ice as well, with a new AD and all.
Michigan people don't seem to think he's gonna be firedThe odds of Juwan being gone at the end of the season seem pretty high, but what about Fran? Seems to me like he’d be on thin ice as well, with a new AD and all.
He has a great freshman class there right now… Feel like he’s a lifer there… Would be surprised if he doesn’t go out on his own terms/retires at IowaThe odds of Juwan being gone at the end of the season seem pretty high, but what about Fran? 16 consecutive road losses, which last night tied the all-time program record, dropping 9 of their last 11 in January & February, and having a similar January and February last season might have something to do with it.I guess an 8-point loss to the #20 team in the country sealed his fate. I don't get it.
