We allow the ball to get to three feet in front of the rim like it is by design. I don't know how we allow that to happen game after game. Never seen an Illini team this bad defensively.

The defense is designed to eliminate three pointers. We are good at that but it allows penetration (which we’ve all observed). Brad finds this acceptable bc he expects his teams to shoot and hit threes. 3>2. I get the logic but man, it’s hard to watch at times.
And just before that they showed the replay where Coleman got hit on the top of the head while driving to the basket. Should have been an and 1, IMO

Eh. I think in today’s college basketball it’s a well-designed scheme. BUT it does not work against teams that are god awful from 3 (read: Maryland)
From an analytics perspective, it makes sense. That's part of why it's so frustrating watching the Bulls on the NBA level as they seem to be a team stuck with a way of playing in the NBA that doesn't really make sense in today's NBA.
