This is probably a tough call, but is there any way to find out who will televise our 2nd game? I won't be able to watch the first one; we don''t get truTV.
there are 4-5 streaming apps that include TruTv.. Youtube TV and Hulu Live I know offer free 1 week trials. Just sign up for one Wednesday. I do it all the time before i got YouTube TV.. If you have done it before just use a 2nd email account..

... go the distance.
"Go the distance ..." --- that gave me a chill, thinking of that very scene in 'Field of Dreams'. Let's Go the Distance!

So you're saying that because our defense likes to focus on forcing teams to shoot from two instead of three, we're better off against teams like BYU and Morehead because it would make them uncomfortable and they turn to shots they don't like taking?

Whereas against Maryland, forcing them away from shooting the three actually helped their offense because the Terps are more dangerous when they focus more on scoring inside the arc because they shoot so poorly from three?

Would a good low/low example be Indiana?
For what it's worth, Morehead was 23rd/362nd nationally in terms of two point field goal %. Minix in particular being a very efficient 64.7 % on two point attempts on a high volume (9.5 attempts per game). For reference, Shannon was 56.3 % on two point attempts on a lower volume (7.5 attempts per game).

One relative weakness of their offense is that they don't go to the line much, which makes sense given they shoot so many threes. Turnovers are their other issue. For such a slow-paced team, I'm surprised at how often turn it over. That is one thing the Illini defense does well. If Illinois wins going away, I suspect there will be a lot of turnovers and easy transition buckets that don't let their defense get set. They're a really good rebounding team, but Illinois is even better.

This is less than ideal, but you can pay $9.99 for a one-month subscription to HBO Max. They are streaming all of the TBS / TNT / TruTV games this year (but not CBS games).

I know I would pay $10 to watch Illinois in the tournament if I had to. I actually already subscribe to HBO Max and I can see our game with Morehead State in the app.

This is one of my two lingering concerns as we approach March:

1. Will we have the right people at the free throw line with a slim lead late? I will be devastated if a team this talented and with this good of team chemistry goes down in March Madness from missing several unguarded free throw attempts that should be free points.

2. Do we have another MSU or even PSU meltdown in us? I would like to think not, but man ... the following were concerning:

1/11 vs. Michigan State: Went up 64-56 with 5:29 to go. Were only up 69-68 with 35 seconds to play. Thankfully made our FTs, but we could have put them away! We also didn't have TSJ.
2/4 vs. Nebraska: Went up 72-62 with just 3:29 to go off of a TSJ three. Were outscored 11-1 in the next 3 minutes and found ourselves down 1 with 9 seconds to go. Thankfully Domask got bailed out and forced over time with a FT, and we hung on in OT.
2/10 at Michigan State: Went from up 72-64 with 7:38 to play to tied with 4:10 to play. Retook a 1-point lead with 2:29 to go and ended up being outscored 13-4 the rest of the way to lose by 8.
2/21 at Penn State: Nobody needs a reminder, but we were up 11 with 3:30 to go, 7 with 1:17 to go and up 4 WITH THE BALL with 35 seconds to go ... lost in regulation. Epic collapse.
3/5 vs. Purdue: This one is way less concerning than the others, but we went up 66-64 with just 3:25 to go, and we got outscored 13-5 down the stretch. Purdue hit clutch shots, give them credit, but we certainly "folded" a bit.

However, on the bright side ... we closed out and stifled runs in these games:

2/28 vs. Minnesota: Went up 89-79 vs. Minnesota with 5:34 to go and never let them get closer than 6 again, even as they rained down threes on us, lol.
3/2 at Wisconsin: Wisconsin tied it at 68 with 5:44 to go with the crowd energized and us seemingly on the backfoot. However, we went on an 8-1 run to go up 76-69 with 3:10 to go and never let them get much closer than that, eventually winning 91-83.
3/10 at Iowa: Although we literally never trailed, Iowa got it to 51-47 with 11:15 to go and then again to 59-53 with 6:59 to go, and we scored 8 unanswered to go up 67-53 and the game was never in doubt.
3/16 vs. Nebraska (BTT): After overcoming the initial deficit to tie it at 68 with 9:20 to go, we outscored them 30-19. Once we got our lead up to 77-73 with 6:36 to go, we never let them get closer than 6, and we won by 11 (98-87).
3/17 vs. Wisconsin (BTT): This game was a battle, but after an 82-82 tie with 3:32 left, we outscored them 11-5 to win 93-87. Wisconsin tied it again at 85 briefly, but TSJ immediately responded with his own three, and we competently extended our lead for the last 1:29.

TL;DR
If you will notice a trend, 4 of the 5 "concerning" finishes occurred before the February 24th Minnesota game - our first win after the PSU collapse that kickstarted our current 7-1 streak. The only "concerning" finish in the last month was against Purdue, and even then ... we simply just lost to a #1 seed because they made HUGE plays. Conversely, all 5 of our "competent" finishes have occurred in the last month, with 3 of them coming in the last 10 days. We are getting better!

To alleviate some of your concerns (maybe), the Penn State and Nebraska collapses haunt me every game. I am leery and aware of this with every late lead against every opponent. And from discussions with other fans, it’s apparent most of us are too. And if we are, the team must be, too. And so far, since the PSU debacle, the team has done a yoeman’s job of closing out late leads.

It could very well be a case where the Penn State loss was the lesson we needed to learn to move to the next level.

YouTube TV is a great option. Signed up a few years ago and haven't looked back. Plus, they just introduced customizable multiview where you can choose four games to watch at once. Just in time for the tourney. Not the cheapest but (IMHO) worth it.

Thanks! Wife just pointed out we have HBOMAX. Who knew? Checked it out and the game is in the program schedule.

That will really depend on what the matchups are. However, if it’s #3 Illinois vs. #6 BYU, that will probably be one of the more intriguing Second Round matchups? Both large fan bases, too.

All that is to say that if we win, I practically guarantee we won’t be on TruTV Saturday.

We just won the B1G, we're top 10 in the country, and pulled a #3 seed in the Dance. If we'd been offered that back in October, every one here would have taken those results.

We've got maybe the best coach in our history (that story is not yet written), a team with elite talent, and the mindset of warriors. I'm going to enjoy every minute the rest of the way, whether it's 40 minutes or 240 minutes, and I'm betting it's closer to the 240.

That’s right…

They do offer similar challenges. Clearly, we be taking Morehead for granted.
I’d bet all the Mormon gold in Utah that Morehead State is gonna offer some stiff competition…really gonna have to be up for that one. Morehead might indeed be a harder out than some believe. Obviously, it remains to be seen what will actually transpire; but we definitely have the length and depth to go the distance.
Hard to argue....

YouTube TV free 10 day trial might be an option for you, if you haven’t already used it in the past.

Eureka! I found it! TruTV is indeed on our package. It's not a streaming thing. If you live in the Bloomington-Normal area, and have Comcast/Xfinity cable, it is channel 55. I just plowed my way through countless numbers until it popped up. Morehead State got waxed by Purdue, Penn State and Alabama. They lost by a mere one point to the Hoosiers (all of these games on the road, of course. )

Over the last eight games we've proven beyond any reasonable doubt that we will win any game that we come ready to play our style.
We've won despite dreadful halves and double digit deficits. We've won with all but one of our best players having off games.

We can absolutely get bounced, but it will be just like Loyola where we don't bring our game and let the opponent dictate, and we don't make shots.
I just don't see everyone in this offense having an off night on the same night...and I don't think TSJ will allow the pace to slow.

I'm not worried about Moorhead St. or any others in our draw. I'll just worry about us as per regular season.
Guard and rebound and the offense will take us where we want to go.

I've seen a lot of pundits talk (including during the BTT) talk about how this team wouldn't be comfortable playing a slow paces game. I really think they are capable of playing at just about any pace and being successful. Obviously TSJ zooming around the court getting downhill is best case scenario but they've also been very comfortable playing long clock half court possessions with Marcus running the show. They will absolutely take whatever you give them defensively and use it against you.

DISH Network: Channel 242
DIRECTV: Channel 246 (HD)

Someone said their cable didn't have Tru. That surprises me. Whomever you are, if you want, you can to DM me the service you are using and I'll double check.

Should have clarified with mine that 1430 is the HD channel for Xfinity here in Springfield.
