This will be Garza’s 3rd year with T-Wolves if he makes squad — averaging about 25 games per season. Played his first year with Detroit. He had a big first exhibition game — 20 and 9. Overall in 3 games he’s at 13.3 ppg, and 5.7 rpg in 16 mpg.

Speaking of Garza, anyone going to see him against Bulls tomorrow? 😊

That was his best game yet, but doing fairly well in exhibitions thus far — improving stats each game. Overall in 4 games he’s 13.5 ppg and 7.3 rpg in 20.3 mpg. But in his last 2 those numbers go up to 19.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg in 20.5 mpg. His plus/minus is only +4 but that’s because of a -15 in a game they lost by 25. Interestingly, he has only 5 blocks thus far — the same number as he has assists.

I was no fan of Edey’s when he was at Purdue, but for at least the time being I’m pulling for him. Always fun to see know-it-all haters who like to poop on people’s dreams be wrong.

Ex-Illini on Ex-Illini mugging will be in full display tonight.
This thread is going to be full of frustration at the lack of playing time these two gentlemen are getting over the next couple of months, unfortunately.

In the T'Wolves case because the trade for Donte Divincenzo genuinely makes them a better balanced team.

In the Bulls case because the roster is a catastrophically mismanaged mess in which Zach Lavine absolutely has to play alpha dog minutes for trade value purposes. Plus Giddey, plus Coby White, plus whatever Lonzo Ball can provide, it's obvious who the odd man out here is.

The team will play better with Ayo on the floor, but for a tanking team that's bad.

God the Bulls are a mess.

100%. I wonder if Ayo eventually gets traded. He has plenty trade value as a good rotation piece on a playoff squad, and even if they manage to find a suitor for Lavine, there's still a bit of a logjam there. I know the Bulls like that he's a hometown guy, but at a certain point the cold hard math of the situation has to trump that, right?

What is your definition of “plenty trade value”?

Honestly anything that helps them stockpile assets for the future. Could be a favorable 1st round pick swap. Could be a few 2nd round picks that could be packaged for a bigger deal down the line. The fact is, there aren't a lot of players on the roster who could immediately help a contender, and even fewer on team friendly deals.

Also worth noting that with that favorable deal, Ayo is unlikely to be re-signed when his contract is up as he will be in line for a large raise. And the Bulls are unlikely to compete in the time he is still under contract.

He certainly has trade value — not so sure about “plenty of.” Considering that Bulls first rounder should be relatively high for next couple of years, not so sure they could get a favorable swap of firsts. Could certainly get a second rounder. I don’t follow NBA trades enough to know if they could get 2. But won’t be a surprise if they trade him. Nice to have him in the Bulls, but relocation to a new trade is probably best for his career.

One suggestion I saw was for a swap of firsts with the Bucks for their 2031 pick. The idea is that with the current contracts the Bucks have, there's a decent chance Giannis would go elsewhere and the Bucks would go into rebuild mode before that, and that pick could be pretty valuable. I also don't know NBA trades well enough to know if that's a good idea or not, but it does seem like his trade value is at a high right now.

Never know with injuries. Or he could just force his way onto floor. Who predicted Pods would start for the Warriors.

Wolves are too deep and talented. I don’t see TJ getting more than a few minutes per game with a number of “DNP’s” mixed in as well. Thats the tough part of going to a contending team.
Didn’t help himself much tonight. Think he had 9 points 3-10; 0-4 from 3) in 31 minutes. He did have 5 or 6 of both rebounds and assists. Hopefully he played some good D.

Garza had 29 and 9 if I remember correctly.

Bulls are easing into a rebuild. Ideally Lavine won’t be around much longer freeing up more time for the young guards. And I’m hoping the best for Lonzo, but no one knows how his knee is going to hold up.

I'm seeing ads for Illini Night at the Bulls-Timberwolves game on 11/7 but can't verify it anywhere. Any idea if it's real?

THT has spent more time than Ayo in NBA. Ayo getting more playing time.
THT was making more money as Laker $10M/year but now is on league min at $2.4M. Wonder why he could not get more after Utah let him go.
Ayo $7M making more money on his current contract.

THT is fundamentally just a low efficiency chucker.. unless these guys can turn into higher efficiency players they tend to lose their spot in the League fast, and it's a tough thing to play your way out of since that's just fundamentally how you've always played if you're a guy that looks to score when the ball hits your hands.

Waiting for TSJ to get in their season opener against the Lakers. Down 14, 6:48 left in 2nd qtr

The fact that Bronny game got into a NBA game before TSJ is a joke. Hopefully the publicity stunt on over and he can head off to the G League now.
They said it was done ceremonially to get it out of the way so it won’t keep being discussed.

Ken Griffey jr and sr were there
