A lot to like. KJ was sublime. Will continues to look the part. Morez is a stud. Tomi is a pro. Tre & Ben shot over 50%from downtown…
I’m sure Brad will find a reason to be mad during the film session, but he’s got the raw materials to make something special.
Not a stretch in the least to say KJ is already the best point guard we've had at Illinois since Deron Williams. He just has "it" when it comes to point guard play. There will be a ton of NBA scouts at our games because of him.Ok...
Enjoy every minute of Kasparas...I think it's only one year for him.
For a Freshmen, he is as advanced of a offensive PG as you will see. Passing is outstanding, he sees the court extremely well, he is never sped up, his handle is excellent. As a Freshman, you just don't see point guards that calm, collective and poised.
The thing that stands out for me the most though, is his leadership...he, already, is the undisputed leader if the team. He is talking and giving guidance every...single...play. He's unselfish, fun to play with and from every bit of info we have, is a basketball junkie...it's ball and that's it for him.
For an NBA scout, he's a 6'6 true blue PG. And if he keeps developing like this, he'll be the highest Illnois player drafted in a while.
I mean he didn’t look pleased that Morez didn’t let him have that rebound at the end, but he didn’t press at all.
Kj a quite 1 for 3 shooting,. But goes for 13, 12 and 8. Kid is silky smooth assassin.
ESPN had them at 19 off rebounds. Still way too manyRebounding. We were out-rebounded and they had 27 (!) offensive rebounds. They did the same thing to IU, but 27?!?

Disagree. He played excellent defense tonight, mostly on Taylor, who went 4-15 from the floor. And I thought he looked pretty good when the ball was in his hands. Better than DGL.I bet we’ll see Bam not starting starting sooner rather than later.
My one counterpoint to this - and I mentioned this to my brothers as well - is I see more than a little Luka Doncic in KJ's game. He looks like he's playing "slow" but he's obviously not. Luka isn't an elite athlete, but his mind and skills more than make up for it.The only other thing, from and NBA standpoint...he's a good athlete, but he's not an elite athlete and the NBA wants elite run/jump guards, but he more the makes up for it with his mind on the court.
Enjoy him while he's here.
The press slowed the game down and cut the number of possessions.Much slower pace tonight, at just 68 possessions. 90 points in 68 possessions is good enough for 1.32 PPP. First game, they were 1.33 PPP offensively. So effectively the same offensive game, a similar defensive game, at a slower pace, leads to a 32 point win instead of a 45 point win.
Yes, and getting out rebounded on the offensive glass didn’t help. (We’re gonna have to start playing tougher off the boards against better competition.)The press slowed the game down and cut the number of possessions.
if Boswell isn't going to get it together, that should be our starting 5. He's awfully slow out of the gates. The line up of kj, tre, will, humrichous, tomi looked pretty good. Lots of positional size, passing and shooting.
In the first game there was a line up of boswell, will, humrichouse, Booth and morez that also looked very good.
I see Tre and Booth being more impactful. Booth moves very well for his size, seems to pass and shoot well. Bball IQ there as well. He will be in rotation, especially in tough games as Tomi/Rez/Ben pick up fouls.
Tre has a lot of tools and can be at the 2 or 3 spot. Can breakdown players and pass.

Boswell did a lot of things tonight besides scoring. Had some really nice passes and played high level D.if Boswell isn't going to get it together, that should be our starting 5. He's awfully slow out of the gates.
