Good morning Bears fans, Eberfluss is still your coach. Just gave the day after press conference.

I mean Virginia McCaskey as George Halas' daughter is the closest representative of the men who built the pro sports industry in the United States that's anywhere near sports franchise ownership in 2024. Now, this isn't Medieval England, her being someone's child doesn't mean she "deserves" the team per se, but it's something unique.

And while Virginia's late husband and son destroyed the budding '85 dynasty and as of the turn of the millennium was operating a parochial laughingstock of an operation, at least on the football side they kinda-sorta-halfway got with the times with the hiring of Jerry Angelo in 2001 and as of the hiring of Kevin Warren in 2022 they're truly no longer under McCaskey control on the football side. Ted Phillips, critically, no longer part of the organization.

The stadium situation is a different story of course, and I have every expectation the McCaskey crew will fail and disappoint us in that endeavor, but football people run the football show at long last.

If Caleb Williams is a star, the team is going to get good and stay good for a long time. If not, not.
I do not appreciate the Bears org making me look stupid for posting this

Williams and the Bears offensive line can't allow that last sack....and Williams has to get that last play off MUCH quicker! Any experienced QB would have.

Looks like Thomas Brown has been named the interim head coach.
Which is why this is more than just a PR feeding a head to the angry mob.

This is an opportunity to take a test drive of a potential HC candidate.

I am skeptical, and the expectations for Brown to get the job should be VERY high, but it's sensible to take a look at what you might have when the other option is sticking with an incompetent moron whose boobery is clearly tearing the locker room apart.

NFW is Brown the next permanent HC
they aren’t that stupid , are they ?
Show me a comfortable and excelling Caleb Williams, no backsliding on defense, and improved game operations and overall competence, and I dunno, 3-4 wins?

Why wouldn't keeping him be a major consideration?

I would bet none of those things happen, to be clear. And when they don't, you read that clearly and move on. But testing it out is a useful use of the rest of this dead-end season.

No. They need to hire a coach that can build a culture, develop a QB, and get them to the Super Bowl, not a guy that gets double promoted and wins 3 or 4 games. If Brown was that guy, he would not have had the job he did (passing game coordinator) for this coaching staff. Period.

I seriously wish all the Chicago sports teams would fire the owners. Yes I know but Jerry and Virginia shouldn’t own teams. Even rickets to a lesser extent. I’d guarantee Virginia couldn’t name 5 players on her team. Jerry still thinks Harold baines is his first baseman
