Right now we are big time hunting for recruits, but I am wondering which will be this class's version of Bailey or Resetich, the lesser known guy who get a last minute offer. It might have been Grant Smith, he just got it earlier than usual.

Anyone know if there is even the slightest possibility of flipping Nathaniel Marshall? I know it’s a really long shot, but he’s gone from Michigan commit, to Auburn commit, to now visiting Texas. Family ties aside, he has to see the upward trajectory that’s happening with Illinois football.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but saw that BB said he wasn’t naive and players are gonna transfer which is expected. Anyone that’s were really gonna miss though or too early to know?
EVERY coach in the country is fully aware that there are going to be transfers with some being significant. We'll lose some, but we'll pick up others.

It's the world we live in. It's free agency where EVERY kid is a free agent.

I would think that Altmyer is going to be a highly coveted kid for an SEC/Big 12 school that is looking for a plug and play QB to put them over the top in being a national championship contender.

Our NIL funds, for football, are subpar and a big time program could pretty much take who they want.

It's good that BB is aware, is honest and prepares accordingly.

The only player we lost in the 2 deep last year was Tobe. Hoping that’s 0 this offseason between money, on-field performance, and our track record of getting guys to the league.

It appears we’re around 94 scholarship players currently assuming everyone with eligibility remains (including freshmen and JUCO commits), which won’t happen. Also, the impact of rosters shifting from 85 scholarships to 105 total players (scholarship or not) will create a mass exodus of wall-ons. Per SI, the average NCAA football program has 128 players. That’s a significant reduction.

Based on interviews with JW, he’s expecting most schools to still have around 85 scholarship players and 20 walk-ons.

a lot of guys who are buried are bound to portal. it's those that aren't, but decide to bolt anyway, that are gonna hurt. hopefully, that group will be minimal

Yeah it's going to be a gigantic flood of lower-level scholarship players and walk ons.

This should in theory big the last big shakeup entering the New Normal, in terms of numbers.

In future offseasons we're no longer talking about Covid super seniors and a moving target in terms of scholarships.

I think Luke is not going anywhere. He was buried in Ole Miss and got success here. See Tommy DeVito as well. Illinois will be a preferred destination for overlooked QBs who were over recruited.

There 100% are guys on the two deep who feel they can be starters elsewhere, who are looking right now. Also, I expect every starter is going to want a raise; those who don’t get want they want will be looking. We absolutely are going to lose quality guys. The goal is to gain more than we lose.

At least one ace wideout, and one serviceable tackle - top two pressing transfer needs imo.

And of course, HAVE to be good with player retention, most specifically Altymer. It would also help to get guys like Jacas and Scott back from the NFL waters.
Post of the day! Would take risk on impact WR, hopefully with inhouse talent enough to be solid. Would upgrade both D and O lines.
