Looks like former Beaver Tyler Bilodeau had a nice game tot UCLA.
Yep , he played ok but was under utilized as the ucla guards didn't get him the ball at opportune times when he was open....

Put it this way , I'm less worried about playing either one of these teams than before watching this game....

I really really am....

For all the hype Flagg has gotten, there’s nothing he does on the court that wows me. He’s very fundamentally sound and he will be a productive NBA player, but I don’t think he’s on the level of a Lebron, Jokic, Durant type of transcendent player like he’s hyped as.

I've said this for a while. I think the best comparison I have seen yet is Andrei Kirilenko. Really great player, but probably not sniffing the HOF. Of course, he's so young he can still improve the tool set offensively, so would only be mildly surprised if he proves us doubters all wrong.

Above all else, he's a Dookie which makes it easy for me to want to sell him short lol

Duke is very very good. We will have to improve and play really well to beat them. But I actually like the way we match up. Tomi should be able to pull Maluach away from the basket. I’m not sure we have anyone to stop Flagg but not sure we need to, I think we hug their shooters and let Flagg shoot those midrange 2’s until his heart is content. We space them out and hit enough 3s we will be tough to beat.

I’m exited to see what we look like come late February.

If it's injuries to the coaches, then no.

I like weeks like this where most of the top 25 loses, because it acts as a kind of palette cleanser for the AP poll, and writers can now actually rank the teams based on how good they are instead of whether they kept beating bad teams after an arbitrary preseason ranking.

Most talented team in the country.

I can see it as far as playing style, but Flagg is far better than AK47 given what he's doing at 17, on a highly ranked D1 college team playing against really good competition. He's literally only like 6 or 7 games into his college career and already dominating.

I honestly kind of want to see him succeed only because he comes from the freaking middle of nowhere Maine. Like, how does someplace like that produce the best HS player in the country? Are there even any current NBA players from Maine?

EDIT: I found only one...Duncan Robinson who plays for the Miami Heat. He's not exactly a superstar, though.

Watching Flagg play, he reminds me of a European player who happened to grow up playing in the United States. Really skilled, not overly flashy, won't totally wow with you a bunch of highlight-reel plays, but someone who is very, very good.

4. While I do hate the Hawkeyes, it is not a TRUE Schadenfreude hate like with, say, Indiana (I honestly could not care less if they sucked forever, no skin off my back and their delusional/arrogant fans deserve it!).
Right here. My dislike of Indiana and their arrogant delusional fan base has no ceiling and them going 0-30 would make me ecstatic.

I will wait until he at least plays a few NBA games before putting him alongside former All Stars. I do think his floor is pretty high, though. He could probably stick in an NBA rotation TODAY at 17 y/o which is insane to think about. You said that too so I think we agree that he's so young he definitely has a good shot at becoming a historically great (HOF) type of player.

Him being from Maine is pretty neat, as you say. But he also has the 'Duke face' imo. Every one of Duke's big time players outside of maybe Grant Hill has just had that 'punchable face' as others on here say, haha. Laettner, Battier, Zion, Redick, Scheyer, Grayson Allen, the list is so long now. You could even go back to the days of Bobby Hurley to find those punchable Dook faces.

Wrightsell is a big time major loss for bama....hate to hear about him and his Achilles surgery.....

bama and the tarholes are having a war tonight....
Wrightsell has had awful injury luck over the last few years. Very disappointing loss as a Bama fan but they thankfully have Mallette and Youngblood as replacements. Just burned Mallette's redshirt last night and Youngblood has not played a minute yet.

Bama beat UNC by 15 on the road last night. They are tough and will only get better as the year goes on if they have no more injuries.

Yep well said. Very punchable faces across Dook.

I cannot wait to see Georgetown and their BS coach get absolutely throttled by West Va on Friday evening as a starter course before the Illini game. Will be rooting for Hansberry and Sencire to kick some butt. It's about time that Georgetown starts playing a high major team. Cannot keep playing the cupcakes forever Ed

One thing I've been surprised by, is how much I've seen young players who work at it develop their athleticism. You may not have the same ceiling as guys with natural athleticism, but you can move the needle quite a bit. Will be interesting to see how far he goes since this will be his only year in college.

22 points
11 Rebounds
4 Assists
3 Steals
2 Blocks

He's 17 years old, playing arguably the best team in the country, being the focal point of their game plan and still delivering.

I enjoy seeing Duke lose as much as the next guy, but that kid has the weight of the world on his shoulders and he just handles it.

Oddly, when he was practicing with Team USA before the Olympics, it was Durant and LBJ that went out of their way to give him his flowers.

He’s very high usage so he will put up counting stats, but his percentages aren’t that good.

He’s shooting 43/23/69 for the season. Sure he’s 17, but he’s already pretty filled out. His game is already very polished.

He’s not big enough to control a game from the PF/C position like Jokic is. And he doesn’t have the handle to really give him the ball and create off the dribble like taller guys such as Lebron/Durant have. So I see him as similar to Anthony Davis or Chet Holmgren. And those guys are good players, but they aren’t #1 options on an NBA team. I think whoever drafts him expecting to get the next Lebron is going to be disappointed.

Flipping channels, hoping to turn on the Georgetown vs. UMBC hoping to see a remake of the miracle win as a 16 vs virginia from 2019.

Also hoping to see a bunch of illini fans sitting behind Cooley screaming at him like that annoying chick from Northwestern a few years ago.

Did just witness an airball layup by Epps, so a little happiness.

Maybe next time
I was in Vegas during this game. It was an incredible experience. Chaos all over the place.
