This is from the Ticketmaster site. On the surface it looks like we have a bigger turnout than Carolina, at least in looking at the upper deck. Not by a lot but at least we appear to be hanging with them. That said, there is every chance that Carolina fans are buying tickets on the B1G side. Guess we'll see how much orange is in there. Will be in section P41.

Thanks for posting this! Any idea if the end zone seats are all just general sale? Or is there a dividing line of sorts?

The only thing I am finding is that the tailgate experience will not be that great unless you are willing to pay a lung for parking next to the stadium. I'm having trouble trying to find a spot to do it that is under $200. Anyone finding anything different?
I bought into Lot A for $70.

of course

that was a ploy for us to spend time game planning for him

he’s not going to risk draft position with an injury in that game

I'm curious what our fan turnout will be like. On one hand, South Carolina is both closer and has been a lot better in recent years ... so I would expect them to have a crowd advantage. On that same note, Illini fans just have not learned the "habit" of planning a little winter vacation around going to a bowl game like many other fan bases. On the flip side, though, we have traveled shockingly well to the bowls we have actually made, haha. In literal road games vs. LSU in New Orleans (2001-02 Sugar Bowl) and USC in Pasadena (2007-08 Rose Bowl), we had relatively huge turnouts.

For anyone who attended the ReliaQuest Bowl in 2022-23, how was our turnout? It would be really nice to get a good group of Illini fans there to support this team!
I was at that Rose Bowl game. It was pretty much 50-50, which is pretty incredible since most of the USC fans drove there.

Illinois best receiver is opting out of game. Does that mean Lunney's plan will be 3 runs up the middle for no gains on every possession like they have all season? Have the Illini coaches figured out a way to keep the Illini from giving up 3rd down and long for S. Carolina like they have all year? Can the Illini contain a 242 lb. Quarterback? If they can't accomplish all of these things it will be a long day for the Illini. If they can at least minimize these issues it could result in a W and that will also help with the recruiting.

So completely unofficial metric and a couple weeks early, but since it's yours, why not? I just came back from spending the past 5 days in Orlando with the family. During my trip, I saw the following people repping their schools:

Michigan: 6
Tennessee: 4
Bama: 2
Michigan State: 2
Iowa: 1 (w/ giant Hawkeye tattoo)
Indiana: 1
Purdue: 1
Ohio State: 1
Illinois: 1 (w/ bonus I-L-L greeting)
UCLA: 1
Arkansas: 1

Surprisingly nobody repping Notre Dame, PSU or Nebraska gear. Also nobody wearing South Carolina apparel. As well 2 of the workers there were Illini fans, one of whom told me he's going to the game and another was a Wisconsin Badgers fan. So we're making strides

Yes, but also no. We're only a short couple hour drive from Orlando after our move from Arizona, and I wanted to make sure the family had a ton of fun at the parks ahead of time so I didn't have to worry about scheduling around the game. I'll be back next week :) As for my prediction, I think there's going to be more Illini fans there than Gamecock fans. We travel really really really well especially considering our modern history.

Gameday just unanimously picked SC over us. Didn’t even mention anything about our season or the job that Bielema has done.

With Pat Bryant, there's maybe a sliver of an argument to pick Illinois. Without him, absolutely not.
Agreed. I am as much an Illini homer as most of you, but I will be happy if Illinois covers the spread and keeps it close. This is simply not the best matchup for Illinois, but it won't stop me from cheerly loud and proud for the beloved in Wrigleyville.
