It needs to be said....Mizzou was extremely dirty. And the announcer rooting for them only covered for a bunch of dirty players. In the old days, no one ever went off without shaking hands. Perkins learned his dirty deeds as a Hawkeye and it has carried over....

Maybe in future years the powers that be will get this game in a better TV spot. This game should always be a late afternoon or later Saturday slot or a Thursday night type of game leading into a holiday weekend.
I agree. Early Sunday afternoon just didn't feel right. I'm used to it always being a prime time weeknight game during the holiday week.

I lived near Madison, WI for a few years. There were a few times where I'd go to a Badger basketball game at Kohl Center at 11 AM and then a hockey game that same day at 7:30 or 8 PM. If the Kohl Center can be turned around like that, I'd have to think Enterprise Center could be turned around in 24 hours or so.

One play should have given the Illini 7 free throws and the ball.
KJ fouled on the missed three point shot 3 FT
Then the Ox from Mizzou rag-dolled Morez -2 FT (Flagrant and ejection)
During the whole play Mizzou coach out on the floor 2FT

21 should have been out of the game when he threw Rez to the floor. Crap basketball, but A+ wrestling there
Ranking the 3 flagrant that weren't called;

1) This play. Marshall very obviously pushed Morez to the floor. Not a basketball play at all. Should have been ejected.

2) Robinson with the elbow to KB's neck. It was obvious that he raised his elbow much higher than necessary in the position he was in. Horrible officiating.

3) Bates kicking KJ when he was down. Did it look unintentional? Probably. Was it intentional? Also probably, because he needed to walk away from the player on the ground. At least it was reviewed.

Don't recall ever seeing a game in the review era where 2 very obvious flagrants just were ignored.

THIS! Almost made it tough to watch. The first 10 minutes was great. They let the play. When Gates got his technical, I thought it was on the guy for throwing Morez to the floor? Why wasn't the elbow the Boswell's chin not a flagrant? Doesn't matter, just frustrating as a fan.

I think their 21 used both hands and threw out players on the floor twice during the game

I don’t understand how a coach can come on the floor during a live ball and only get a T.

Also kneeing player in the head after u purposefully stepped over him in is not incidental

The fact our players had the maturity to not to let that affect them is a big step

Closing out the game after watching a 10 point lead is another sign of maturity

Need to clean up the unforced turnovers

I’m glad we won this game, but my optimism isn’t that high with all of the mental mistake causing turnovers and offensive game planning. Seems like Underwood has lost some of his fire. I don’t like it. Maybe a little coaching letdown after finally making an elite 8? Can’t let off the gas now, because trophies don’t get handed to you just because you’re a good program.

I know it's a young team and they need to develop but that offensive possession up 3 after they missed the free throws was absolutely brain dead.

They got the switch and had a mismatch with Ivisic in the post but Kasparis just dribbled around for 20 seconds before passing to Boswell who jacked up a 30 footer. Just an atrocious possession when a bucket would have been huge.

Also, whatever assistant coach they get to replace TA should be an offensive guy. The offense is so simple and basic it's honestly embarrassing. A ton of 1 on 1 stuff, they don't use the pick and roll well, basically they just rely on being more talented than the other team instead of running any sets that can create open looks.

Tough to watch the officiating- I know we all watch with biased glasses - but Mizzou is such a punk team- the two hand shoes in the back when someone goes to screen, slapping and hacking all the time, yet we were the only team in foul trouble. Very oddly officiated

On the plus side we showed we can win a close one- which is very encouraging- KJ had two big shots, Boz and Tre with big contributions down the stretch. We need to get Riley going, he’s the missing piece right now

As a fan of basketball the officiating is an absolute travesty every year, on both sides of the ball. The officiating is bipolar. One second mugging a guy is ok, the next play you barely touch a player and they call it. It’s been like this forever and I have no idea why.

Officiating and chucking 50 3’s per game because stats nerd.

I think there’s far too many fouls called off the ball or on drives. Those are the fouls that really slow the game down. Shooting fouls you have to call. Over the back fouls sure. The rest you need to just let go. If offensive players initiate contact wildly by jumping into guys that have their hands straight up, that’s a play on. Lot of the block/charge can be play ons.

Blatant slaps across arms, shooting fouls, over the back…yes call it. The rest let it go. Even these moving screens. Let them go. It’s like holding in football you could call it every possession bc guys are never completely set

Does anyone think today's games are rigged sometimes? After some of this, my thoughts were that someone in Las Vegas has money on Missouri. People in high places lie to us daily. It is not that far-fetched.... These calls were blatantly poor or just completely ignored. This went beyond incompetence. This was criminal in my opinion.

Regardless of which side is benefitting from the foul calls, the swings in officiating are absolutely insane. Often the game is completely unrecognizable, as it is nearly impossible to get a shot off without being physically destroyed by the defender. Then, at the drop of a hat, every small bit of contact becomes a foul. Pick a lane with the foul calls and let the players adjust.

Boswell is quickly emerging as the on floor leader of this team, using his voice and hard nosed play to inspire his teammates when a spark is badly needed. So glad to see that from him. KJ is starting to get more vocal too, in addition to his elite level shot making especially when the pressure is on. Now, if the coaches can just address these late game lapses that are making things way too close down the stretch. as comfortable leads slip away.
I noticed in a little huddle before a freethrow, Riley was hanging his head. KB lifted his head up essentially saying keep your head up young man

Right. It's just frustrating. We have the potential to be very much more efficient than this if we can just get our ducks in a row, but it probably is an accurate reflection of how we are playing right now.
FWIW, we are 10 in Torvik, but I lean more towards our KenPom ranking as of our current play.
