I will duck immediately after posting this for the ensuing food thrown at me....but if you watch the slow mo replay of Morez going to the floor during the T on Gates, Morez was falling backwards as the guy wrapped his arms around him.

So it wasn't as egregious as it looked full speed. He definitely helped him to the floor, but he didn't really throw him.
Here...try to catch this deviled egg!

My brother... I am always fully prepared to accept your judgement on such matters and was also ready to eat crow on this, though I was shaken at the prospect of having seen this from multiple replay angles so incorrectly.

However, I watch it and it seems absolutely clear that Marshall throws Morez to the floor casually, with impunity and not an iota of remorse. He walks away toward the bench afterward without even looking back at Morez chewing hardwood. Morez is never falling backward; he's thrown forward, face down.

It's not a Rashomon difference of perception here. I've queued this to the play itself. It seems like a flagrant:

Agreed, but this still does not negate the overall thuggish play of miznoz.

He was absolutely not falling backwards, he was trying to pivot away from a large human who just gave him a big hip check. Then he just got grabbed around the waist and tossed. Morez is a big boy. He didn't seem too concerned about it, looked shocked more than anything.

I didn't find the play particularly vicious. I think we've all seen much more malicious fouls. It was more strange and funny than anything. Did you just throw a player to the ground and casually walk off like you didn't do anything?

And you will notice that immediately before the WWF takedown of Rez, Manchild Marshall gives him a hard elbow to the back, showing his intent all along was to inflict harm. He was clearly butthurt that Rez came away with the rebound/loose ball.

Love the boldness of this post. This is @skyIdub running away from the rest of us lunatics.

Lol...he's definitely helping him to the floor, but not outright "throwing" him. Morez's momentum was 100% going that way. It's just not as egregious as it looks at full speed. There was a better replay in slow motion from the camera under the basket, but I can't find it.

I remember us all being pretty excited. Especially after learning Egor cost $2 mil

After watching this scenario for many seasons I am beginning to believe that during the early non-conference schedule that the refs are playing the spread. It has appeared to me that they call these games in a manner that insures that the final score, more often than not, aligns with the morning line. Sorry to sound like a conspiracy nut. Still, these phantom fouls and missed calls are happening so often that one has to wonder if these guys are just padding their retirement accounts.
I'm going to defend my officiating brethren here. Unless anyone has hard evidence that point-shaving or match-fixing is occurring, I would really appreciate not spreading conspiracy theories about these kinds of things on this board.

Officials in general are good people who are performing a hard job in challenging circumstances. While I'll never say never that an individual official may be involved, the idea that many are doing this simply defies belief. It would take a LOT of people not saying anything, and that's just not going to happen.

It's completely fair to raise questions about specific plays or an approach to a game, but to raise questions about match-fixing is where I'd like to draw the line.

Right-right…the ridiculou$ price tag etc

But then I remember Brad… initially was intrigued with Egor and all about it…but then pretty soon after he seemed to think Kasparov might actually be the better overall player…

At least that’s the story we got and most of us basically nodded in agreement…
That’s the way I remember it at least.

IIRC the meltdowns happened way earlier (Storr, Maddox). A sequel to last season's RayJ Dennis, if you will. Then another mini-meltdown re: Ivisic eligibility. I do think 98 percent of us were excited about KJ, especially after seeing him dominate games playing against other future NBA talent.

LOL. Are you trying to support your "every comment" when he committed said it was a "setback "?

Two posters were critical. All others were supportive.

Just a bizarre turn to come on here trying to throw shade at the fanbase and basically disprove your point.

Why are people calling for minutes for Booth? Clearly he is not earning them.
It's hard to believe he would be worse than BH at this point. I understand what BU is trying to do, but at some point you have to give up and move on. And we have to be close to that point with Ben. We know he doesn't rebound and he is a below average defensive player and ball handler, so if he isn't hitting the 3 he has very little value. What is the harm in giving Booth some minutes to see what he can do?

Are you expecting us to read 5 pages of a thread to try and prove your point for you?

Especially when you take into consideration that the fans of each Illini opponent are complaining just as hard about the officiating from their perspective.

If Ohio State gives its' players a gold pants charm for beating Michigan in football, we ought to give our players something similar for beating Mizzou in basketball.
