As usual road wins are going to be hard to get in this conference so you take them how you get em.
I'll be surprised if anybody else sweeps that trip.Man dont love how we finished that game but i bet not many teams will sweep that west coast trip.......learn and move on
100% agree. The plays are fine, but when the game is getting hot....guys aren't making hard cuts, they're not coming to the ball, the inbounder panicks and I don't think that KJ knows the rules of the backcourt on an inbounds play. I suppose you could pin that on Brad?Again, it wasn’t the Outabounds play that was called That was the issue. It was the execution! I recall we made at least two baskets off of inbound plays today.
agreed 100%. it's not utilizing the depth, and best possible matchups.Needed more DGL and Morez in the 2H. Brad’s continual overusage of starters leading to fatigue is what made this game close IMO (that and Davis looking like Trae Young)
I saw entirely too much boneheaded basketball to "love" that, what the heck.I may be in the minority here but I absolutely loved what I saw today. Some amongst our fan base think every game should turn out like the Oregon game. I saw perseverance, composure, and resiliency today on the second game of a west coast road trip. Sooo many Illini teams in the past would have folded in this situation.
Well, we scored 81 points (not indicative of a let down), we were up 17 in the first half (not indicative of a let down), we led by 11 at half time (not indicative of a let down), we overcame a guy who hit a zillion threes even though he's, what, sub-35% on the year (not indicative of a let down), and we showed real poise down the stretch with some clutch buckets, made free throws, and winning plays on defense (not indicative of a let down).I’m gonna chalk this performance up to the usual let down after a big time win.
Two forward, one back is still advancing though. That was ugly. Two steps forward, one step back. Two wins. Take them and get back home and keep working!
And with one of their guys going into insane mode late. This was huge. Winning an ugly game on the road, when your shots aren’t falling, on the back end of a west coast trip. These young fellas are learning. We good, real good.
Yes! Fletch needs to get hand strength exercises going or something. It would also be great if our guys were less lackadaisacal with the ball in their hands. The lead would have been insurmountable had we taken care of the ball.
I'm not talking about firing the ball out of bounds on aggressive plays (that didn't happen). I am talking about simply not being aware that defenders will poke the ball out your hands if they get a chance. The lack of awareness in this regard during the first half was mind-boggling to watch.
