Now he has back to back losses he won’t be able to shake

Brad also said he knew we were going to lose that game during breakfast and went and told Susan it was going to be a rough day …

So it couldn’t have been that hard to shake …
I heard that comment also and didn't understand why we didn't play tougher or with more energy and get on the players more during the USC game if he already had bad feelings about the game at breakfast

Especially if the football program keeps winning consistently. More and more money is going to go there instead.

I hope they aren't still collecting NIL, but they likely are. It's a travesty what the game has become. It won't last forever because watching terrible basketball played by guys you really don't have time to get fully invested in isn't a recipe for long term success. Sad but true.

100% … It has on every coach … It’s draining …

There is no development anymore … There is no Trent & DMFW & Ayo & Kofi … Where you sprinkle in a Plummer or a Grandison but the core is all back …

Last year … It clicked partially because we were OLD … Brad likes coaching OLD teams …

We went young with Skyy and Epps and that whole group and it didn’t work … And we went a little bit back towards that this year …

Brad has already been told by 2 kids on our team that they’re transferring after the year … Like that’s what CBB has come to …
That’s really depressing to hear but thanks for sharing that info.

I get it, it’s the sad state of most programs, but not all. There are still teams that are holding onto their core to get good and stay relatively good (off the top of my head: Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Duke, UConn, Purdue, etc.)

Why can’t we?

Other than a few games, Ben has been a waste of minutes. He was recruited as a shooter but he has shot very poorly. That's on him but also on the staff not understanding how shooting translates from his level to ours.
I agree they thought maybe they could get lucky like they did with Domask again. But Ben H just isn't the same basketball player as Domask was coming from that level. Much rather would have had Ty Rogers in Ben H spot on this roster you cant convince me Ty couldn't be better right now.

Are these guys getting decent minutes? Can’t imagine how difficult it’s got to be to coach in this new era.

Also @Indy Illini Fan, what’s your read on the locker room? Last year we heard how tight that group was. Heard it a little this year, but definitely doesn’t seem to have that same feel, at least on the eye test.

I agree, but in this new CBB landscape, I can't see the team having upper classmen players that have been in the program for multiple years anytime soon.
And because of that, it is going to be very difficult to build a culture and maintain keepers of that culture from year to year in your program ala Trent, Ayo, DMW, TSJ

Get them from other programs like Maryland did with Miguel, Rice, and Gillespie. Three of their starters are from other programs and a true freshmen…Reese is the only MD developmental piece.

Good news is we had a bad home Maryland loss last year and a poor road loss at PSU. We also lost at NU. Essentially though, we can’t lose another game until like Duke if we want any chance of a 3-4 tourney seed.

At this point, the concern is the health of this team. Doesn’t sound good for Tomis

We are getting absolutely nothing from our bench outside of DGL …

He’s the only kid who’s got the fire …

Jake Davis tries hard but that’s not good enough to play here …

Carey Booth isn’t good enough to play here … That was a mistake in recruiting …

Let’s not go that far… Morez has had an outstanding freshman season. Will Riley has had some great moments, but yes, we need more from him. Jake Davis is a role player. Tonight he had to guard Julian Reese and Derek Queen because we have 2 bigs on our roster. I don’t know what you want him to do. If I’m gonna blame our bench in any capacity, it’s the fact that we don’t have a third option at the 5.

Pay for experienced dawgs in the portal. Globe trotting for one-and-dones is a formula for underperformance; just ask Calipari.

If we can replace them with three or four competent bigs, that'd be ideal. Brad built this team around the premise that we're going to shoot 30+ threes a game and make 35%+ of them. We're struggling to get over 25% and outside of Ivisic, we don't have one proven "big" on the roster. Morez is a good prospect, but that's all he is right now. He needs a LOT of development and as we saw...... strength.

I'm a fan of older teams too, but they HAVE to be more dynamic. Our offense will never be consistent with how it's built. We could beat NW 105 - 70 on Sunday and it'd totally be reliant on one thing.

It's who we are this year.
