We mostly struggle against the more physical/athletic teams.

Yep, I think the key to beating Illinois is to have athletic bigs that can neutralize the Illinois rebounding advantage, and also have guards that are comfortable taking open 2 point jumpers.

NW doesn’t have athletic bigs, and their guards can’t do anything.

Despite the hand-wringing on this site, our game against Maryland looked much more like an outer than as trend for our team. In my opinion.
If those two rosters were to play 10 times on a neutral court, MD. would win 8. Add Tomi and Illini might win 8. Just too big of an advantage in talent in the paint without Tomi.

Disagree if we are healthy. Of course having good bigs will hurt us when our best big is out, though.

Credit to whomever had the scout today. Swapping Morez and Bens assignments on D has them without anything resembling offense.
I don’t remember Nicholson being so anemic on offense but he’s been dreadful this year. Such a great scouting move.

I just don't get not using the TO at the end of the half. There has been numerous times this year when we have the ball at the end of first half, less than 30, and holding the ball out front for the last shot. I think there have been at least 4 or 5 times this year. Usually with a lead.
at the very least you could work on end of the half plays.

Disagree. I think if those two rosters play while healthy/full energy, we still win 7 out of 10. Add Tomi and it's like 9 out of 10. I really think that game was much more about our low energy play than about Tomi being out. I don't know if our low energy play was due to sickness or not, but whatever it was, that's what lost the game for us.

Well that and make sure your AD schedules early morning games.

More so scoring bigs. Nicholson is not that.

Two stats show a definite improvement in two intangibles
Rebound advantage of 27-13 shows effort and energy.
Keeping turnovers to 4 shows focus and caring about how to play the game.

Now, try to hold turnovers to 3 ....or less...next half !!!!!!

Underwood rarely using first half timeout. Why? Who in the hell knows

I haven’t been following this thread today. Hopefully there is no talk of letting up and keeping the score down. I don’t like NW

A couple of random thoughts.

The obvious. When Ben gets hot, good gosh. The range is unlimited and you just assume it's going in.

The tad bit concerning. KJ is absolutely not the same player with TI in the game. Those two work SO well together with that high/low game. Without it, KJ pounds the floor with the ball and seems out of sync. This is two games in a row.

Edit: Nice dime by KJ to start the half
