You might say that these Illini as a team have a split (or duel) personality. Very bad one day... very good the next. Same guys... different personalities come out.
This team is capable of great things. The talent is there. And as we have also seen, they are capable of falling short of what they are truly capable of.
Fortunately... Our Beloved have been the Good Illini more than they have been the Bad Illini.
Because as the games now become fewer in number and when we get to the point where if you stumble just once you are out... you can only have the one personality to reach the Promised Land.
Big response from the last game. We came out and executed in the first half and really built a good lead. Looked like a tough, high-energy, together team.
Last ten minutes of the second half were trash though. We need to be able to keep focus as a team and close these game out better.
Glad we showed some fight, even though that was an ugly last minute…
What happened to the Orange Krush? It’s gotten worse every year since the renovation, but I can’t believe how bad it has become. No energy, no coordination, no interest to be there. I don’t know what needs to change but it should be unacceptable for us to have one of the worst atmospheres in the BIG.
Are things so pliable in the league that Brad can be rude about FTs and then we get THIS discrepancy? It'll end up exaggerated by this ending, but this was an all game thing.
terrible end to the game. I'll still take the W, especially against Northwestern, but 53 to Maryland & Northwestern in the 2nd half is unacceptable. Our inconsistency has cost us 6 games already and will assuredly cost us many more. Stupid that I'm mad after a win..
while we let our foot off the gas and were sloppy at times in the second half-it was nice watching a full game where the other team did not seem to have a chance
Good to get a win, but they just about erased all the good that was done in the first 30 minutes with the final 10. No leadership, and apparently not a lot of urgency after a dreadful two weeks where we lost 3/4. I guess last year's team spoiled me, but I really don't like to see lazy, selfish play while not finishing off a team we could of blown out by 30. Hopefully BU addresses it and our guys listen.
Last few minutes notwithstanding, that was an elite effort before garbage time, with our best player setting the tone on the opening tip. Let's do it again Thursday.
