Don't deserve to be ranked right now. Only teams like Kansas and Kentucky can lose and continue to get praise. By the way why is North Carolina not ranked right now they have only lost 8 games.

This is a funky week for the polls. I don’t think we deserve to leap anyone but there were teams with worse losses. Not sure if any pollsters are going to care about Ivisic being out for us. I’d say SJU jumps us and I wouldn’t surprised if Louisville and Texas Tech make a big leap because of all the other losses. I’m going to go with 18 with Oregon dropping a bit below us due to the head to head.

24. That Maryland loss will loom over us. They hadn't won on the road all year.
I don't think the Maryland loss will be that bad. Maryland is probably about to crack into the top 30 in the AP/Coaches poll. They were 0-4 in B1G road games coming into Champaign and now they are 2-4 entering this morning. The only "bad loss" they have is @Washington (and even that is a Quad 2 loss). Maryland is top 20 in NET, so they are a definite solid team that finally got over the hump. They were a bubble team entering last week in most mock brackets, and now they are probably fairly solid in the field.

Given that not many teams behind Illinois had impressive weeks, I am going to say that the Illini will slide probably to around 20-22 range. We are starting to hit the point in the season where one individual loss does not have as much of an impact on the rankings (the rankings are much more stable).

I guess 19. Maryland won again on the road yesterday against Indiana. Them not winning on the road is partially due to a bruising road schedule. They have lost at Purdue, Oregon, and Northwestern. Only the Washington road loss was bad.

We'll be ranked. Most likely somewhere 19-23.

A bit surprised mainly bc of the margin vs MD. Context is key but I’d assume most AP voters are just score watching aside from bigger matchups
It helps that Illinois has gotten way more publicity this year which helps provide more context for AP voters. If we didn’t have a possible top 5 draft pick, even with the same record, AP voters would be more out of the loop. This is a good thing. Not that different than UConn always managing to hang on to the top 25 even in cases where they should drop out entirely.

I think having no real team below Illinois having great weeks contributed the most. Maryland surged to #27 in the AP poll (and could very well creep into the top 25 with another good week), so that loss does not look as bad as it felt (especially with a key player out). It also helps that the rankings tend to stabilize greatly in late January. Barring a collapse from the team, the Illini should be able to stay in the top 25 the rest of the season.

I think we stay about the same.
I think Wisconsin passes us because they lost a close game and blew out Nebby and we pass ole miss.
I'm going to guess 18.

We've progressed as a program to the point where our national perception is such that even a bad loss at home doesnt auto mean we're out of the polls for awhile until we prove ourselves again.

Feels good from a holistic sense even though would much rather have had the Maryland win.
