Humrichous plays so much because of the money he is making... If you are the big $$ donor(s) who wrote big $$ checks (as in several hundreds of thousands) because Brad told you "We need this guy to compete for titles" and then he sits for 2/3rds of the game, will you be writing checks next year when Brad tells you "We need this guy to compete for titles"? If it was me I would put winning above all else, but there's a reason Brad doesn't come to me for money (I don't have any). Not saying it's right, but it's the reason
Donors are giving money to win. If Ben was sitting and we adjusted and won donors would be happier than they are now.

That this theory has received as much endorsement and traction from the "insiders" here is both astonishing and mortifying to me.

If the hypothetical donor in question can't course correct on this, do we really want them continuing to "help the team win"???

If anything, it's probably a Mark Cuban shell corporation trying to boost Indiana up by putting us into untenable situations.

This is on Brad, regardless of the donor, if it's true. He has to own his evaluations and win with the best options.

Do you know how many teams make the tournament?
Let’s grab some numbers. 32 automatic bids and then 36 at large. UConn, Georgia, and Memphis are 36-38 in KenPom right now. You think we could beat any of them right now? Next up is OSU, #24 in KenPom.

Not looking to argue…I respect you as an insider, but if Tomi doesn’t come back in the next 2-3 weeks and at least 80% healthy, something dramatic needs to happen to turn this ship and I don’t know what that is.

For those asking why we take so many threes, this offense is built around the 3 point shot. Roughly speaking, shooting 33% from deep is equivalent to 50% from two point land. If you put up 21 threes, you only need to hit 7 to have the same amount of offensive output as putting up 21 twos, and hitting 11 buckets. That's why we recruited Jake Davis (38%), Humrichous (41%), Tomislav (43%), and said goodbye to Sincire Harris (9.8%), Hansberry (30%), and Ty Rogers (0%).

The downside is that when you can't hit threes for whatever reason, you have to be able to score in other ways, and this team sacrificed that ability so we could drop 109 on Oregon. It makes us able to beat anyone at full strength, but we can lose to anyone when the shots aren't dropping.

It's the NBA and analytics. It's a 2 man game until it's shut down and then you chuck something up. It works well with KJ and Tomi.

When it breaks down, there's nothing. Tonight all it did was break down.

KJ just passed the bus keys into a street drain.
We play like bad NBA teams that just think chucking up 3's is a good possession because 3's are better than 2's.

Which to be fair there is a lot of bad basketball going around the NBA because teams think they can emulate Steph Curry. If you want to look at a team that does it well then look at the Celtics.

This team plays hard (indicative of crashing the boards) but the focus has simply not been there.

I can overlook many of the missed 3's, as many were good looks, but the sloppy turnovers and lack of defensive awareness on inbound plays is killing this team at the moment. Nebraska got way too many easy scores on inbound plays, and yet the Illini struggle to get the ball in when having a chance to win the game. That is 100% a coaching problem at this point in the season.

I appreciate that the team continues to fight throughout the game, which is a major difference from the team 2 years ago that would look indifferent at times.

With that said, something needs to change in the starting lineup (Ben should be coming of the bench). This team can still be very competitive, but the ceiling is looking much lower the longer Ivisic is out. Just disappointing given the potential the team showed when fully healthy.

Hand up, last week was the first I ever learned that on a standard dead ball throw-in, the inbounder has some wiggle room with his feet (can move a couple steps to his left or right and scoot back or forward and this is NOT a travel). But I have to question whether our players know this.

No matter how bad you thought it was on TV, it was even worse in person. I'm sure a lot of what I'll say here has been beaten to death, but i gotta vent for a second.

We were bad on both ends of the court. Those slips for dunks and quick hitter inbounds plays Nebraska burned us with were just ridiculous. We looked like a 7th grade team that had no idea how to guard.

And on offense. Yikes. I mean, Brad said it post game. Too much ISO. But what I saw was just a stagnant half court, nobody moving, cutting. The only screens were weak on ball stuff at the top of the key. Way too easy to guard. So the whole thing became one guy getting the ball, pounding it half to death, and either turning it over comically or jacking a terrible shot. Our decision making was an F- tonight. And too many of those bad shots led directly to points for Nebraska. Like they needed extra help.

I just don't get Brad's stubbornness with Humrichous. Guy was 0-14! The only time we scored worth a darn was when he was on the bench. He literally has one job, and if he's not hitting he needs to ride the pine.

I knew when we went to OT we were toast. I told my daughter, the football team is really good in OT...the basketball team not so much. Wish I would have been wrong, but seen this too many times.

Could you imagine if we had Tomi at the 5, Dainja at the 4 and Morez as first sub in for both. I know we’re all about the 3, but the high low possibilities mixed in with 3 point shooting would be fun. We have no high low potential without Tomi. It was fun very briefly with TI and Morez during the MSU game.

You know in a horror movie where the one character has witnessed like five inexplicably horrifying things but he’s clinging to this desperate notion that it was just the wind and this nightmare situation will all be explained eventually in a rational way that jives with the worldview he held previously?

The signs are slapping you in the face. Our issues are deeper than Tomislav being out, and you need to try not to notice them to think we’re fine.
I certainly have concerns about our recent play but you also can’t disregard some of the performances we’ve had when we’ve been full strength. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have faith that Brad will get it together by the Big Ten Tournament based on previous seasons and the amount of talent this team has.

Also unrelated side note, I think I’ve seen your profile on every other team forum in the B10😂
